K237FS is broadcasting on 94.1

For some reason they’re on 94.1 instead of 95.3. I first noticed this Thursday night. It’s completely interfering with K231DA’s 60 dBu contour. I called the number on the 95.3 application the other day and they said they would pass a note to their engineers. I also sent a text to Air1. It does help out KTTF in The Woodlands area though.

I don’t know what Christian broadcasters have against classic hits since K231CN is over powered and interferes with K231DA also.

How often does it happen that a station or translator is completely on the wrong frequency? How does that happen?

This is the first time I've heard any station completely on the wrong frequency.

I sent a message to Air 1, and they say their engineer turned off the broadcast until they can get someone out to check their equipment...

To the original listener who reported this, thanks for letting us know. This was definitely an oddball one! The transmitter at K237FS spontaneously decided it liked 94.1 better than 95.3 apparently. To add insult to injury, remote monitoring didn't catch this since as far as the transmitter was concerned, everything was just fine and dandy into its broadband antenna! Remotely turning it off and on again put it back on channel. Have you rebooted your transmitter lately?!? Very strange. Needless to say, this transmitter will be swapped out. If you ever notice an issue with an EMF signal, please don't hesitate to call us at 1-800-525-5683.

Thank you for that. I had called the 916 area code phone number before and will keep that number handy if I notice anything else weird with any of their stations

This isnt the dumbest thing ive read on this board all during August, but it ranks up there.

I thought I’d add something different on here 😂. Obviously I’m not serious when I said that.

Shane is good people and EMF runs a good shop. If you catch a problem before they do, tell them and they'll get on it.

He sure is, I've known him for 5+ years and worked in person with him for 2 years when he was the contract engineer for a station I work at in Wyoming. Super smart, friendly guy.

I'm not the one who reported it on this forum, but I did send the thread to EMF. Good job on replying, Shane!
Another way to get ahold of their engineering staff is to contact them via their website and select the right department. I did that.

Maybe the antenna is just not tuned correctly or someone tampered with the equipment.

Well thank you for doing that. I hope none of their stations will mess up like that again but if it does I’ll definitely contact them like that.

Also it would be cool if the translator had some kind of RDS.
