Those are some long haul Australians and New Zealanders for sure! I've only picked up RNZ on 13.840 Mhz thus far. I wonder what the solar field index was on the 13th when you caught these?

Excellent catches!

I'll use htis thread exclusively to post some audio during the season. I'm focusing on non asian TP signals this season (transpolar/transpacific). Stuff like NZ/Aus and Europe. Asians are so plentyful here and so strong I dont consider them too too special.

I've tried for Tonga or Australia for years, but DU just doesn't happen here. The closest I've had was a strong carrier and no audio on 846 which was likely Kiribati...no ID, no log.

I've never even heard a carrier on 846.. KICY has a loud and wide signal. EVEN when i narrow audio to 1khz if tuned to 846

KICY does make attempts to broadcast deep into Russia every now and then. Out of natural curiosity, do they reach the east side of Alaska?

New logs on Friday Sept 16th.

Hit record on my recorder at 4:59am AK Time KGMZ 1550 and KVRI 1550 were equally trading places, one fading up, the other disappearing and 1 minute later, I caught a fairly clear KUAZ Tucson sign on message

12 minutes later, I had a loud fade up from KLOG 1490 Kelso, WA with local commercials and a sports report.

The "Attempt" is pretty good, thats why they go directional at 11pm and go back non directional at 4am.

And yes, i can hear them fine.

Nice catch on KLOG! And the Tucson on 1550 (which I have needed for years). Paul, listen to 1490 a little more and point towards us. If you hear Native American powwow music, you know right then and there it's KYNR in Toppenish, my former semi-local.

That reminds me, have you received an HD signal from 720 KOTZ?

No, KOTTZ nor KDLG 670 are actually running HD... they just have HD capable transmitters.

KINU 89.9 in Kotezbue, owned by KOTZ is in HD and has sub channels

KUAZ-1550 Tucson, ARizona heard Friday September 15th at 5am AK Time with a sign on message.

Here's the audio of KUAZ.. the music is KGMZ San Francisco, Channel Q.... the flutter in KGMZ;s signal is the carrier of KLUAZ coming up, I think... and when you hear a brief interruption in the KGMZ song, that's KUAZ causing that. The KUAZ announcement is a bit hit hard by KGMZ's music but you can hear it fairly well and the NPR programming becomes a bit clearer, even.

Audio:

Between 1410UTC and 1530UTC today (Mon Sept 20th) , I had several good fade ups of Star on 657 from NZ, making a new log for me
