B106.7 Columbia

Over the past few days, I have noticed quite a few changes with WTCB B106.7 Columbia. They have liners promoting Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Post Malone with artist voiceovers. The liners mention something about "LOVE THE VARIETY". Playlist wise, they have cut down on the 80's tunes a tad and have more 90's-current songs. I've heard "Yeah" by Usher, "Stressed Out" by 21 Pilots, and "Better Now" by Post Malone, all songs I never recall hearing on there before. On Post Malone, the only song they played by him before was "Circles". As I've said, the 80's gold is still there but they are going for a more modern approach it seems with the playlist. Just a few months ago, they were heavy on 80's and softer songs. Could we be seeing a return to Hot AC if this goes well? Back in 2013, B106.7 went full Hot AC and ditched all the 80's titles. That experiment lasted only several months before they reverted.

IIRC, B added the older stuff back and shifted back to mainstream AC when WOMG flipped to Nash Icon. Considering WOMG went back to classic hits, they may be comfortable with sending some of the older 80s tracks back down the hall to 98.5.

Bob and Sheri move to 98.5 on Monday. 106.7 have been playing the rap edits to songs today. (My oh My by Camila Cabano and Yeah by Usher. Now they are playing a Puff Daddy song.)

Looks like they’re just putting the older stuff out to pasture over at 98.5. Guess it makes sense, B98.5 in Atlanta is sort of between AC and Hot AC musically (still considered AC) and plays very little content from before 2000. Bob and Sheri probably fit 98.5’s demos better also.

Wish someone would pick up Bob and Sheri in Greenville-Spartanburg since they are no longer on 107.9 from Charlotte.
