Biggest station with no local news

We are having a discussion in the Schedule Forum about KXGN, the eastern Montana best known as America's smallest market TV station. It also has no local news, just simulcasting news from Billings MT stations. What station (excluding stations with no big 4 affiliations) has no local newscasts. And what is the smallest market where no stations have news?

Surely the "big 4" station in the largest market without newscasts is the ABC station in St. Louis, KDNL.

KSTW a CBS owned CW affiliate in Seattle has no local news for now but that's because the stations master control is at the KPIX-TV/KBCW offices in San Francisco.

KCOP Los Angeles and WWOR New York has no local produced newscast

Why would a newscast produced by WNYW (Fox 5) for WWOR not be a "local produced newscast"?

Point taken, Scott. It's not locally produced because it doesn't exist!

I think the only Fox O&Os doing any significant news for sister stations are the ones that have "Fox Plus" stations - WDCA in DC, KICU in SF/SJ and KZJO in Seattle.

Don't forget WRBW Orlando (8-9pm ET) and WFTC Minneapolis (7-8pm CT) too.

WWJ in Detroit doesn't have news that is the CBS O&O maybe that will change next year as CBS News local is going to have CBS News Detroit.
Channel 62 has always been a mess, at least since WGPR became WWJ. They had news for a few years before going defunct. It had a fraction of the shares of channels 2, 4 and 7. Then WWJ was a weaker signal than the other stations, and that was the case going back to when it was a black-orientated station as WGPR. No station wanted to make a deal in Detroit to take over WJBK's old CBS affiliation. I'm sure there were some OTA viewers that flipped to WTOL Toledo after ch 2 went Fox, thanks to WGPR's signal issues!

WWJ-TV was one of the stations owned by CBS with WUPA-TV Atlanta whose newscasts were made from other CBS owned stations. WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV the CBS duopoly in Detroit have their newscasts made at KTVT Dallas the CBS owned station in Texas.

WUPA also has their newscasts made in Dallas too.

For a long time WXLV Winston-Salem NC didn't have news. They just gave up. It was the newest station to be affiliated with one of the Big Four and three other stations had strong news operations. For a while they did a Spectrum newscast produced by the people who do news for Spectrum Cable. Or maybe it was Time Warner. Now they have a newscast but I don't know how well it's doing.
