What's going on? I notice a bunch of the "good Pastor" Chess piece Transalators are off the air.
What other translators are off the air? What's going on? I notice a bunch of the "good Pastor" Chess piece Transalators are off the air.
Just checked and 104.5 is on. La Nueva 94.1 is off the air! They’re still on 96.1 and 107.3 which is fine. I’m really happy it’s not interfering with K231DA anymore! What other translators are off the air?
A translator level transmitter uses less electricity than most of your kitchen appliances. In fact, the air conditioner in the transmitter room likely uses much more electricity. There is minimal savings from going off the air at different times. They may have to turn some off at different times to save on electricity...
"turn it off to save electricity".. this is one ofg the dumbest thing ive heard lately.. theyd save maybe a few bucks an hour, if that... not evenI mean, turn off all of it. The transmitter, STL equipment and AC at once.
That still does not save very much; much less than a dollar an hour probably. Their HD channel rental and the antenna site rental are in the many thousands of dollars a month. Saving a few dollars by being off the air is "penny wise and pound foolish".I mean, turn off all of it. The transmitter, STL equipment and AC at once.
HD channel rental in Houston it seems like. 104.5 and 94.1 both originate programming and are overpowered. And unfortunately 94.1 is back on the air. That still does not save very much; much less than a dollar an hour probably. It's also "fraud" to advertisers who think they are buying specific coverage areas. But many of those translator opearators seem less than concerned about rules, regulations and legality.
Only if you are running a 40 kw FM transmitter in Show Low, AZ, is the power bill a major concern. The electric bill for a translator in Houston is petty cash.
I thought they were both on Urban One subchannels?104.5 and 94.1 both originate programming and are overpowered.
That's unfortunate. For the first time in years I was able to pick up KQXY in the middle of the day in Houston. I miss the days where you could listen to rock on 106.1 out of Beaumont any time of the day.And unfortunately 94.1 is back on the air.
There is at least one 100 kw in Show Low 😄That still does not save very much; much less than a dollar an hour probably. Their HD channel rental and the antenna site rental are in the many thousands of dollars a month. Saving a few dollars by being off the air is "penny wise and pound foolish".

And for a tiny little market, the power bill there is likely the biggest budget item... probably more than the manager makes! There is at least one 100 kw in Show Low 😄
I also could pick up KQXY yesterday. And last night Beaumont was coming in quite strong.I thought they were both on Urban One subchannels?

94.1 can’t be retransmitting KOHV since that isn’t on the air and I’m sure Radio Dabang would be too strong. Also the 60 dBu contour for KCDF doesn’t meet with the translator.
The only Urban One station that has a subchannel is 102.1 HD2 which is what you can hear on 92.1. The only HD subchannels with FM translators are 92.9 HD3 (Power 105.3), 106.9 HD3 (Aliento FM K269GT also KGBC), 107.5 HD3 (102.5 & 103.5 Hum FM), and 107.5 HD4 (98.7 Masala Radio K254BZ). That’s it. Any other translators in Houston you don’t hear on AM or FM is originating programming.
Well you can see K258BZ says KMIC and K269GT says KHPT.The good Pastor doesn't give a F**** about HD channels or AM stations. God protects him from the FCC 😂🤣. Calling Eve Klindera Reed Wiley Rein LLP would be fun 202-719-7000 from "Radio One/Urban One about K283CH 104.5 and all the other Transalators attached to KBXX application.
