WSB 95.5 changed news networks??

This week I have heard three actualities from NBC Radio News on WSB. Have they shuffled news networks again? IIRC they had CBS and CNN.

Well, CNN doesn't have a radio outlet anymore. Many stations that had CNN via Westwood One now have NBC Radio News. Despite the name, it's an iHeart service, pulling some world and national clips from NBC News, just as Westwood One News used to pull clips from CNN.

If I remember, WSB once was affiliated with ABC, then with CBS.

I have heard clips very occasionally credited to CNN and those could be TV audio clips. Other than that, it has been only CBS actualities and CBS special reports for the last year or two. The NBC Radio News is new this week.

I am a news addict and listen to WSB's news several times a day via Google. I have a news play list and WSB is the first item. WSB records the first seven minutes of each hour for the Google Podcast feed. All of that is to say, I notice changes. :)

Always thought a clip/actuality airing on a CNN platform can be used - with credit - by any radio affiliate under contract. There's now a CNN Breaking News Alert podcast with quick turnaround summaries - but no sig-outs. Don't think a regular, curated affiliate feed schedule exists.

WSB started out as an NBC affiliate many decades ago. It's even believed that NBC may have originated the three-note identification that became known as the NBC chimes. The current NBC News Radio operation is owned by I-Heart.

As I was turning in last night after midnight, I was listening to the World Series. Things were getting a little brutal so I changed the station to WSB. They ran CBS News on the hour as usual.
