Pandora usage declines

"Pandora saw subscriber numbers fall and monthly active users declined 10%."

Another quote:

"The quarter after quarter declines in monthly active users’ numbers continued during Q3. Pandora had monthly active users of 52.6 million during the third quarter of 2021, down 10% from 58.6 million a year ago. Self-pay subscribers to the Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium services decreased by 59,000 to 6.5 million."

Experts and amateur pundits alike are observing that this a a leveling of the pandemic spurt in streaming usage.

I even saw this in my own website, with average daily page views at least 40% higher than the pre-pandemic average and the level I have seen since mid-summer as some type of normalcy returned.

Spotify grew subscribers and revenue in their latest quarter, so it could also be an inferior product losing.

Depends. Pandora is only available in a few countries. Spotify didn't break out where the growth areas were.

But my sense is that the Sirius ownership of Pandora hasn't really pushed the service as much as satellite.

Some of it may be due to inflation. A 5% increase in the cost of necessities can make people look for other things to cut.

I signed up for Pandora recently, and suffice it to say that Pandora has nowhere near the amount of choices that Spotify and LiveXLive have. I never logged on to the service again.

Regarding SiriusXM, its app promotes "Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora." The promotion doesn't give anyone a compelling reason why they should listen to those stations as opposed to other services.

By “Personalized” they mean that you can make your own on demand station. Or even several. And you can keep defining them forever. Other services like satellite and predefined streams program for you, but with the paid Pandora you can create your own playlist.

I agree. Wait until the Free Pandora Weekends T-Mobile Tuesday Promo expires...! Pandora will drop further for sure! And
The free short-termsubscription users are not counted in the user reports. The only non-paid ones reported are the longer term introductory ones in new cars.

That is in full investor report.

I understood that; however, I am sticking with YouTube Music for my on-demand music needs.
