September Ratings

You make the opinion on the September Ratings

WABC finally BEAT WOR in the ratings...It's is believed that the News/Talk/Oldies hybrid has been a success. <But correct me if I am wrong.

A rich man's toy beats the weakest link in a chain's NYC cluster in 6+, which no one actually in radio cares about. And both stations' listeners are in the least coveted demo of 55 to dead. Success? Surrrrre.

92.3 needs a new PD. Get rid of the morning show. Make Kevan and Brady do mornings with Christine. Try to go after Q104.3 who are high in the ratings. Jxdx is not alternative rock. Not even close. Olivia Rodrigo is not alternative rock.

WNYL should be more of an active rock alternative rock hybrid

I'd much prefer AAA over Active Rock, but that's just my personal tastes. A sort of AAA/Alt hybrid aimed at people who grew up with Alternative in the '90s would be great - it would have a heavy classic alternative component, but also play new music that hits the sweet spot between Alt and AAA.

NYC already has a AAA station, WFUV. It gets a 0.5 share. Not a huge problem since it's non-commercial and listener-supported but clearly there's no demand for another AAA station in the market. There's barely enough demand for the one it has now.

4.0 is pretty good. However this is Chicago and not NYC. The station would have to be programmed for NYC. Maybe Audacy can go back to local music and local personalities. Just a thought...
WXRT also has a huge heritage following; the station has been passed down from generation to generation. Many of the songs have been playing since the 1980's without fail. An attempt to launch AAA in NYC, or even an Alt/AAA hybrid, will have a major uphill battle because there will be no heritage following that will always tune into the station.

An Active Rock/Alt hybrid will have a better chance because of the K-Rock heritage but it would have to be programmed almost perfectly. Even then I have my doubts it could work in NYC.
