just heard my first stations in the area to go all-Christmas. Forever Broadcasting's WHVR (1280/95.3) in Hanover and WGET (1320/93.7) in Gettysburg are playing all the favorite Yuletide hits. other stations will soon be following.
Yep, it used to be that stations would start airing Christmas tunes on Thanksgiving day, and carry them through to New Years' Eve, as people would still be shopping, making returns, visiting friends/relatives and schools and many businesses weren't operational until January 2. This year and last especially, possibly to bring a bit of holiday spirit early during the pandemic (and to perhaps encourage shopping and spending), it seems stations are getting into it earlier than in years' past.
the next station to go all-Christmas will be WARM 103. they announced that they will switch over Friday evening at 5pm. wonder if any other stations will go to all holiday music. Possibly as a lead in to a format change around the beginning of the year.
