Vida Unida to replace NGEN radio on 91.7FM

I noticed on the new Vida Unida website (under frequencies) that there is no mention of the 91.3 translator (K217GB) in the Medical Center area. Still listed on the NGEN site. Oversight? Or other plans for it?

The Vida Unida website has been updated to include K217GB 91.3 among its frequency listings.

Appears Sunday 11/7 is the last day for NGEN on FM, as Hope Media Group had previously announced the format would go online only on Monday 11/8. Guessing we might hear two days of redirect announcements or a “something new is coming” promo loop on FM before VU launches at 6am 11/10.

I don't know why they won't put NGen on an HD subchannel. Isn't that still in the realm of digital only. I have the feeling that Hope Media, um, hopes that NGen just slowly fades away and they can discontinue the brand.

The NGEN content would be preferable to what they carry on KSBJ daily.

NGEN still going on 91.7 just after 11pm Sunday 11/7. Frequent reminders that "NGEN is leaving 91.7 Monday morning" but no specific time given for the switch.

KHVU 91.7 is now running redirect announcements for NGEN moving to online only, along with promos (in Spanish) for Vida Unida launching on Wednesday. Appears VU will soft launch with continuous Spanish language Christian music on Wednesday, with a ”full experience” launch on Monday 11/15.

The change happened around 6am this morning; NGEN was still going on 91.7 at a check just before 5am.

It's supposed to be on one -- KWUP 92.5 HD2 out of Navasota. However, KWUP is not broadcasting any subchannels, just their main programming on HD1. I don't know if it was removed, or if perhaps something is just broken.

I wonder if they'll keep NGEN's expansive network of translators. Speaking of, their translator K226AE in College Station was transmitting static this morning.

I wonder what K259AH sounds like

K226AE retransmits KWUP HD-2. So if the HD-2 was off and the translator was also off then they set it up correctly.

93.1 is on the far south side of CS and is not ideally suited to reach the most hispanic neighborhoods in the market which are further north in Bryan.

I wonder how La Nueva, La Nueva Dallas, Radio Fortaleza, Radio Aleluya are all going to take it when 91.7 goes on the air. Will they loose many listeners? Wonder in Univision will keep Amor Celestial too.

KWUP HD-2 has been off for at least several months now, and K226AE has been on air the whole time -- K226AE appears to be rebroadcasting KHVU's primary signal which is definitely on the fringe side here in CS as it fades to static quite often depending on ionospheric conditions.

You have a good point, the highest concentration of Hispanic neighborhoods in the area is in Bryan, and K226AE's signal definitely won't reach there. I wonder if they'll realize this and relocate it.

The problem is they can't relocate it, at least as a fill-in. The 60 of the translator has to be contained in the 60 of the primary signal. KWUP isn't a really good signal itself.
