Jim Gardner Retiring

Dave is long enjoying his golden years 😀

This does open some interesting speculation about how the dominoes fall over the next 14 months.

Interesting side note: Brian Taff is subbing on GMA weekend this week. Almost certainly nothing to it, but imagine if ABC wanted to poach an anchor. The dominoes become even more interesting.

Brian Williams recently left MSNBC. Take with that what you will. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seriously, though, I don't see him being a good fit on GMA. Someone like Bob Brooks or Christie Ileto could be an option, though. They also have former WPVI reporter Kenneth Moton, who isn't on World News Now anymore.

They have Eva Pilgrim as well. Who knows who could be a fit for some role or another. Won't know until we see it--Dan Harris has (or had) the ability to segue from Nightline to GMA, so skill sets may be flexible. :D

My purely wild, uninformed plan would have Rick and Sharie as the designated 6 and 11 pm team, keeping 5 and 10 for 2022, while Jim maintains 6 pm. Come 2023, move Matt and Tam into 5 and 10, and slide Gray Hall and TBD into weekday mornings. (Maggie Kent? Jaclyn Lee? Both have been getting anchor fill in work). Wild card: Walter Perez into a weekday slot from weekends.

Rick has a long tenure and will of course not have Jim's longevity in the slot, but hey, so it goes.

Rick and Sharie, keep them at 5 and 10pm and then also move them to 11pm? Brian Taff solo at 6pm? Keep him at noon and 4pm as well?

If the Williamses are the 6/11 choice, I’d say keep them at 5 and 10 for the coming year or part of it to make the transitions gradual. I get, of course, there’s nothing mandating 6 and 11 must be the same team. Perhaps 6, 10 and 11 the same, and fiddle with the 5 pm show, with them being the designated fill ins for the later crew. Leave noon and 4 steady for now.
