Kim Quintero Departs

That is true, but back then you could tell she enjoyed this remote and they went back to it several times. It was the most disgusting thing ever done by AZ family and Kim has done nothing to disprove to me that she is not biased towards people of that persuasion. I know this is all my take on it but IMHO she will not be missed.
I seriously doubt that the "returns" were decided by anyone but the show runner or news director. They realize that the viewing times are relatively short in those dayparts, so once they had the item, they did additional pieces. If it was an on location, they probably did several takes, with some aired later in the show. Those shows are "scripted" with standard in's and outs so that prerecorded bets seem to be done at that moment.

Regardless, whether you agree with me or not (we all have our own opinion) I believe AZ family will be better without Kim and I told you why.

No big loss. Ever since the summer of 2019 (or around that time) a story she covered was about some old fart selling Trump banners out of his house. At that point I placed her on my don't like list😳.
I was not aware reporters got to choose their stories.

TV anchors and reporters do not pick their stories. And if they suggest a story, there is a hierarchy that has to approve them.

Again, there is an assignment person or a news director who tells the staff what to do.
Very true DE--- with very few exceptions. That's being extremely kind by the way. šŸ™

I can understand your point b12. However, in Quintero's defense that piece in azcentral is arguably the most honest reason I've seen from a departing TV journalist in recent memory.

She felt she hadn't been growing professionally at 3TV, which many people in the news business wouldn't acknowledge publicly. To that end, I really can't fault her for leaving.

By all accounts, she seems to be exiting the local "spotlight" from a position of strength, as opposed to uncertainty. Like yourself, I won't miss Quintero either by the way. But I digress.

Again, reporters don't pick the stories they cover. There is a manager, perhaps called News Director or Assignment Editor, who assigns stories.

"While you are there, get some extra footage. It's a slow news day and we may want to fill with it".

They don't. Even in much smaller markets. And obviously not in market #11 nationally.

You are all missing the point. With that story she revealed her stance. Now she will be working for the woman who hired the Cyber Ninjas!!! She won't be missed!! In fact AZ family will be better without her IMHO.
ā€œAs we've progressed into 2020-2021, I came to realize I'm not happy with the direction our society and country are headed in,ā€ Quintero said, ā€œand I want to get more involved to help make a difference.ā€
With that statement alone, and her acceptance as a high-level officer of the Republican Party in the state Senate, she took a job in an organization that is the problem, not the solution. She may directly report to the top Republican in the Senate, but her ultimate boss is Kelly Ward or whoever replaces her as head of the AZGOP in the future.

Because taking a political job, elected or appointed, eliminates any pretense of objectivity, her career in journalism is now over, and her credibility is shot. She'll never work in a newsroom again.

(y)Exactly!!

And, probably, make more money!

It didn't hurt George Stephanopoulos. I guess it's only a problem if you're working for the Republicans.

So then there's no basis for saying of Quintero, "taking a political job, elected or appointed, eliminates any pretense of objectivity, her career in journalism is now over, and her credibility is shot. She'll never work in a newsroom again." If people don't like her, that's fine, but just because she goes to work with someone you disagree with, or willingly interviews someone you disagree with and enjoys it, doesn't damage her credibility. Maybe she agrees with the Trump supporter...that's fine. Different strokes. Or maybe she doesn't, but she's professional enough to give a favorable interview to someone with whom she disagrees.

I know in my own job working for the State, I have to help implement bills and propositions that I personally disagree with, but those don't get any less effort than I give to the ones I agree with.

Weekend GMAZ said goodbye to Kimmie Q this morning.
I'm surprised how muted it was. Probably because Friday 11/26 will be much bigger. However since Kim primarily worked weekends, her on-air goodbye should have been more than what it was.

Jared's segment was best! I thought they would do something more at the end, but they did not. Hopefully, they will do something on regular GMAZ on Friday (maybe she will be doing the weather on Friday, since April WILL have the day off). ;)

Yup. Jared did the GREATEST goodbye! I burbled my scrambled eggs all over the breakfast table!
It was a nice Mexican Instagram picture! When it came up, I said "whoa!" You definately don't see that on Sunday morning news.

BTW I like the Jared Travel segment.
