WRKO Disabled Veterans Fund Raiser

According to Krazy K000nah, he and he alone raised more money than any other show

It does to Kuhner otherwise he would not have bragged that his show raised most of the money.
It doesn’t matter to the needy wounded veterans! WRKO listeners very generously contributed to this very worthy cause. Jeff’s show is the highest rated on the station so it is not surprising his time slot would raise more money. This again proves how important live and local radio is to the community and the power of radio to get behind important causes.

I will say it again, being the highest rated program on WRKO is like being the biggest banana in the strawberry patch. A program that is number 17 with adults 25 to 54 is not a well performing program. But according to Kuhner if you factor in his online listenership his audience is 3 to 4 times larger than CNN's Primetime viewership. I am not sure he realizes that online listenership is measured. But then again this is a guy who does an entire hour on the requirement that those attending events at the TD Garden are required to show proff of vacination. Kuhner was unaware the the TD Garden and the Bruins are owned by the same company.

FWIW, it kind of reminds me of what radio station WPLJ, New York did back in the day when Scott Shannon came back to New York to program against the computer that he had built.

I think that they were proudly boasting about being #27 in the market or something. Just saying is all.

If it works, it works.

I remember when we started building a real news department at WHDH in 1980. The station was #1 in the market, so the promotions department saturated the market with ads for "Boston's Most Listened-To News Team!" It was factually correct, because #1 in the ratings=most listened to --- even if people, at that point, were listening to the station to hear Jess Cain, David Brudnoy, the music and cash call, not news.

But it *really* pissed off Gary LaPierre. I remember picking up the phone the day after the ads dropped, and I can still hear him saying, without saying hello and without any prelude: "'Most listened-to?? Most listened-to?' Is that the best you can do?"
Over the next few years, when we were picking up the national SPJ/SDX and Murrow awards that 'BZ had never won, he was much more subdued :)

Hi. You certainly are a devoted and loyal listener of Jeff! You contribute to his success!

The point of this thread was a positive one about how WRKO dedicated itself in raising money to help wounded warriors. A very positive and noble cause, as mentioned. Also as mentioned, Jeff raised more money during his program which is probably because he has the most listeners. The negative bashing of Jeff is contrary to the positive subject. The hatred/dislike of Jeff has no bearing on the money raised. I truly don’t understand why anyone who listen to a radio program they don’t like and constantly complain about the program.

Agreed!

I'm going to wager Howie has more listeners.

Care to share more details of this for those of us who never got to listen to WPLJ?

Perhaps an obsessive need to continue using juvenile nicknames for someone and snarky criticisms speaks more about the person doing the name-calling?

Much the same can be said about many radio (and all media) personalities, of course.
