Another new GY catch this morning. About two hours before sunrise (around 5am CST).

WXCO, 1230, From Wausau, WI. On top for about five minutes. Sports Talk. In long enough for local weather forecast and positive ID. Distance: 202 miles from my home location in northwest suburban Chicago. Radio: C Crane Skywave.
Nice one!

Caught Freeport Bahamas station C6B3 1KW on 810 am last night for the first time here in Georgia. 810 is usually dominated by WCKA Jacksonville AL (50KW) daytime and at night (500 watts) due to directional signal in my direction. WCKA was not heard last night but caught Bahamas with island music (many songs specifically about the Bahamas), WGY with a faint signal (rarely heard here), and probably a Mexican station.

New one for me this morning. On 950 around 5am CST (a little more than 90 minutes before local sunrise. WAKM from Franklin, TN (Nashville metro). Fair signal with fading, but mostly on top with country music, TOH positive ID, and local ads. Distance 443 miles. Radio was C Crane Skywave. I'm guessing 5kw ND day power (as opposed to 75-watt night light). CFAM and WNTD also present, but well in the background. No WWJ.

This must be the same thing I heard down here in Houston early this morning (11/25). Someone dominating 1670 on top of usual WMGE with soft 70's-80's oldies (If You Leave Me Now, Lady in Red, Wicked Game, Sad Eyes, etc). Listened from ~0420-0510 CST, no announcements of any kind, sounded like a Spotify playback with short gaps between songs. IRCA Mexican Log shows a CP for Reynosa, so maybe a possibility. Just checked the RGV SDR and it's there, coincidentally with exactly the same songs I heard earlier.

Nice catch. I'm too close to WNTD to do much DXing on 950. The only other one I've ever gotten is WWJ, and even hearing them is pretty rare for me.

Thanks. I haven't heard WWJ here for several months. They used to be a semi-regular, so I'm wondering if something might be up with them.

Very nicely done! You're definitely back in the game in a big way!

WEBY is the catch that intrigues me. My vacation location on the Gulf is about 30 miles southeast of their transmitter site just northeast of Pensacola. WEBY, at 25kw daytime, blasts in despite traversing mostly via land path with very poor ground conductivity. t night it drops to 79 watts and vanishes. I'd love to snag WEBY (or anything from Pensacola) here in the Chicago area, so if they're running day power at night, I'm wondering if this might be my chance.

The 1670 UnID is in with a good signal aimed N/S tonight. Listened 2225 - 2245. Fever, Gentle On My Mind, Surfing USA, Crazy, My Way played. No announcements.

Thanks @cyberd. My log of WEBY was at 1630 CST an hour before my local sunset probably before their scheduled power / pattern change. I’ve not heard them at night.

I’m hearing them too. Since they were strong on the RGV SDR during the daytime, my guess is it’s a new station in Reynosa testing. Still need to hear an announcement to be sure. I wonder if anyone outside Texas is hearing them.

I passed on this post to Tim Hall aka the cliff claven of mexican AM radio.. he had it on the Brownsville SDR about 9am this morning. Someone in harlingen has it on a CC Skywave at noon. It's 1670 reynosa.

That makes sense. Penscola's local sunset is about aan hour or so after that during this time of year, IIRC.

I was on 1330 for more than a half hour this morning before local sunrise. No trace of WEBY. What I was hearing was Spanish fading in and out, but I couldnt ID it. My guess is it was the NYC 1330, But that's only a guess, and I honestly don't know. 1330 is less crowded here in my portion of the Chicago area than most of the other upper dial "regional" channels. So it doesn't take much for a distant weak signal to wind up on top.

The application to modify the WKTA 1330 110 watt Night Pattern (and hopefully they switch to it, because the Day 5000 watt DA facility trashes all the stations to the East if they don't) demonstrates the situation on 1330 at your RL. Like you say, there aren't any overpowering signals. The 50% RSS interference contour is 8.55 mV/m, which is remarkably low for a PSSA. So many of the new Class Bs are in the 15 mV/m and up range, a lot around 25 or 30 mV/m. I used to try to get WTRX when I stayed in the NWC/ORD area, but never heard it for sure. It is the third contributor to the 25% RSS value, after KWWL...KWLO and WHBL. WKTA tried to get 500 watts Night from over near the WNMP...WCGO array. Never saw how, but I suspect it was with tall towers with a null in the vertical pattern to protect WHBL. That would have taken towers over 400 feet, and I don't know if the FAA would have approved it. The "deep" nulls in the 110 watt pattern protect WHBL, WTRX, and KWLO.

Found the APP from 1976, granted in 1981 for 5000/500 DA-2 for WKTA 1330.

I'd like to see the details of this application, if just the tower and array parameters. Still trying to figure out how it was granted. It took five years to approve, and the History Card suggests that there were a lot of requests for new information and amendments. It looks like the proposed Night Array was about 2 miles South of the WCGO 1600 array. They seem to be along the borders of an Industrial Park, WCGO at the North end of it, and the unbuilt WKTA Night CP at the South end of it.

Another nice list! And the first entry, CFZM, is the one that got my atterntion. IME. CFZM can be very difficult in the southern tier of states. I've found it to be next to impossible in Florida and Gulf Coast states. CJBC, (860), which is diplexed on the same tower west of Toronto is also tough, but CFZM is definitely more difficult. That said, here in the Chicago area, CFZM is the better signal of the two via nighttime skywave.
