New subchannels on WSBE-DT

Sometime this week WSBE-DT started carrying Cozi TV on virtual channel 51.2; this is in addition to it carrying Telemundo on virtual channel 51.1 a few months ago (it was a subchannel of WPXQ-DT 69). With these new channels, I wonder if there's any need for WYCN-CD, which carries Telemundo and Cozi and transmits from Norton, MA - not too far away on a low powered signal that few people receive - to stay on the air. In addition, some in the Providence area and Southeast MA already get Telemundo and Cozi from WBTS that transmits from Needham.

I thought WSBE-TV was channel 36? (As in it's legacy channel number.)
Yes, WSBE-TV is still on virtual channel 36, or in this case 36.1, 36.2 is PBS Encore, and as listed above, they also carry Cozi and Telemundo on their spectrum, and all four channels are on RF2 as you can see on the rabbitears.info site.

WSBE is channel sharing with WRIW-CD which allows WRIW-CD to broadcast to the entire market, which broadcasts on low-power but transmits on WSBE's full-power spectrum, thus showing 36.1, 36.2, 51.1 and 51.2 via WSBE's spectrum.

Like to see one of these subchannels carry Decades TV which was on one of WBZ's subchannels. It was dropped for Start TV. Decades has a lot of the old shows similar to METV,Cozi and Antenna TV. It also has the weekend binge in which they show all episodes of a single show every weekend. The closest cities carrying it are Hartford and NYC. Boston and/or Providence should try to get it back.

Excellent idea! Decades was good.

WBTS doesn’t transmit Telemundo, WNEU does. Its transmitter recently moved from NH to Needham.

But you don’t need both WRIW and WYCN. Also, I believe WRIW is SD-only.

Thanks! In greater Hartford, you get that with NBC channel 30 and our low-power Telemundo station. The TV shows them as 19-1 and Telexitos on 19-2.

Just looked at the stations listing for Decades TV. It shows that in Boston it is on Channel 17.1 over the air. Where is the transmitter located and how big is the coverage area?

That is the new low power station WWOO-LD transmitting from One Beacon St. They are carrying Decades, Movies!, and NewsNet as Ch 17.1, 17.2, and 17.3 on RF channel 28. The same owner is setting up another low power station, WVCC-LD, which will use virtual channel 49 on RF channel 6 from the Cabot St tower in Needham. Both are licensed to Westmoreland, NH. It is likely that the same programming will be carried by WVCC-LD.
