Red Apple Audio Networks to launch in 2022

https://news.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n41456

WABC-AM's personalities will be on the Red Apple Audio Networks in 2022 according to the article.

The network will feature a lineup including economist Larry Kudlow, longtime news anchor, correspondent and author Rita Cosby, TV and radio host Greg Kelly, host and author Judge Jeanine Pirro, Rudy Giuliani, radio and TV personality Chris Hahn.

I know what you mean its basically WABC-AM trying to be relevant on the national level by using the Red Apple label and yes some of the people on this list like Greg Kelly, host and author Judge Jeanine Pirro, Rudy Giuliani, radio and TV personality Chris Hahn are known for stuff on Fox News and Newsmax.

The 9/11 Mayor got a new radio gig, again.

Cats’ show is syndicated already, but what lowly AM radio station, not matter how distressed they are, is going to want to carry any of these shows?

It’s a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

The article doesn't mention how it will get the shows to stations or who will do national sales. I guess that means they will do it all internally.

Cats really has no idea how the radio industry functions, does he?

He's from the "If you build it, they will come" generation.
Which is fine except that’s just not possible today. Cats doesn’t have the reach that ABC Radio had with Talkradio in the 1980s and with relaying WABC on the majority of their talk stations in the early 2000s.

What station in the talk format is going to want to carry Greg Kelly when iHeart, Cumulus, Cox, Audacy and Salem all are locked in with their in-house or allied talent, not to mention self-syndicated hosts like Ken Matthews or Daliah Wachs that have the backing of larger distributors? The marketplace just doesn’t exist!

Cats might be better off buying distressed AM stations around the country and flipping them to a relay of 77WABC.

There are lots of "distressed AM stations" that would probably carry these shows, but they're not set up to handle simple relays of existing shows. We saw what happened to Audacy when they tried to do that. Their stations ended up with double audio and sloppy rejoins to the shows out of commercials.

By comparison, iHeart owns the technology and equipment along with the existing vertical integration method that they can do interstation relays without that much trouble.**

But that’s the thing. Audacy, let alone Cats, just can’t compete with iHeart in such endeavors.

**Yes I’ve seen the Boston boards re: WRKO and 1200 lol

I don't see Cumulus picking any of the shows up on their remaining Talk Stations. Red Apple could make a bid for AM 710 in Los Angeles, once that station compleats its downgraded signal and is put on the market

Why would anyone want an AM with a bad signal?

But the iHeart technology comes from RCS and it's available to anyone.

Not going to happen 710AM and 1110AM Los Angeles are named as a candidates to go to Good Karma Brands a Milwaukee based radio owner that has WTMJ-AM News/talk and WKTI-FM an ESPN Sports/talk affiliate.

Disney was in talks to have an LMA with Good Karma holding the license for WEPN, KRDC and KSPN as of this posting and Disney providing the Sports/talk pundits, PD's and GM's to the stations.

There's no real upside for John Cats to do that. He's strictly a New Yorker. All of his business is in the northeast.
What station in the northeast would even be available for such a pipe dream? All the relevant talkers are owned by either iHeart or Cumulus or Audacy and buying any AM station is just asking to toss all your money into an incinerator.

I give it six months at most before this ā€œradio networkā€ fades into oblivion as no station signs up for it, and Cats memory-holes it from existence.
