PPM Monthly Ratings San Antonio

How is it that KONO AM is tide with The Beat a 100,000 watts station at 1.8? I'm guessing The Beat is doing better in their target audience and perhaps descent billing?

Energy 94.1 remains flat. The format is poorly programmed and in desperate need of a PD. Telling your listeners you are #2 Hit Music Station; is the same as telling them there's a better Top 40 station in the market. Personally, I would like to see 94.1 moves their programming similar to Hits 97.3 in Miami. The format balances the Hits & Throwbacks. And it has an upbeat flavor to it.

The Beat keeps dropping. I remember 15 years ago they had lots of local DJs and were doing well.

I agree about KTFM Energy 94.1.

KONO 860 has a very nicely programmed 60s-70s Oldies format that appeals to Boomers that miss that sort of music. Highly regarded among fans of the format along with WDJO in Cincinnati and WECK in Buffalo. Probably won’t have a long shelf life due to aging demos, but appreciated while it’s here.

Good to see KISS doing well.

Has KISS started going back to playing newer rock bands (i.e Halestorm, Volbeat, The Pretty Reckless, Asking Alexandria, etc.) or are they still playing the same 10 Metallica/Nirvana/"Down With The Sickness" songs?

They are still primarily 90’s focused with a few songs from the 80’s and a few from the 2000-2009 era. The morning show I would think skews 18-34, while the music the rest of the day most likely targets 35-54.

KISS should get rid of the 80's tunes and play some I Prevail, Dirty Honey and Saint Asonia.

Seems to me like it's still not worth listening to KISS and haven't been listenable for the past 10 years. I remembered back in 2011 when they dumped all new rock bands for the same 20 rock songs of the 80s/90s/2000s and it's always been the same since. At one point, a Twitter user requested new music on KISS and was blocked. Later, KISS asked "what kind of Stone Temple Pilots song would you like to listen to?" This was led to form 99.5 Kiss Sucks on Facebook and is still active to this day.

Looking at KISS' Spotify playlist, I must say I'm impressed to see a great mix of 2010s and 2020s rock bands along with 90s/2000s classics and makes me wonder why this kind of playlist isn't on San Antonio airwaves? But I guess the station and most of San Antonio likes listening to "let the bodies hit the floor" 10x an hour.

Maybe Alpha can take 103.3 and make it new hard rock to compete with KISS.
I remember leaving messages on 97-7 Rock's voicemail and getting played on-air, back when KLTO was that. "KISS can kiss my ass", one of the other callers' messages said.
