Catholic Radio

received 690 am, Catholic Radio for the Ms Gulf Coat, while sitting in the parking lot @ Kroger at Castlertwoods on Lakeland Drive

And you are in which city/state? I cant figure it out from your post

To clarify things a little further, Flowood is basically a suburb of Jackson, MS. Central part of thr state, and about 150 miles north of WQNO's transmitter site in Chalmette, Louisiana (New Orleans suburb,)

When the New Orleans 690 was WTIX, the 10kw day signal was audible in the Jackson, MS area, but the night signal was usually not. In fact, I'd lose the night signal on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain....about 25 miles north of the Chalmette site. No such problem with WQNO. On my last visit to the area six months ago, WQNO was good 24/7, And for that matter, WQNO has become a fairly common nighttime catch here at my location in the Chicago area.
'
I'm not sure if the WQNO night pattern is currently in full compliance, or if someone needs to visit the confessional. :)

My first radio job was in Marks (Quitman County) back in 2003 and i was involved in a station in Quitman (Clarke County) about a decade or so ago..I'm also on a station in Natchez, and Greenwood/GReenville, currently....so i know the state well.

Hey Paul, question. Are you the same cat that worked down in Cocoa, FL? If so, I have some questions about that station.

That is me., unfortunately :)

I know the engineer for WQNO. I'm 99.99% sure if there was a problem with the night pattern, he would be on it :)

FWIW, no trace of WQNO when I checked 690 this morning at just before 6:30am CST....not quite an hour before sunrise.

If you know the engineer responsible for a station which appears to be out of licensed parameters, let them know in private. Enforcement is very capricious, but if they go after you, they are relentless. A lot of them are covering large numbers of stations over wide areas, and it may take a while to get to a particular station to fix it. Keep the engineers at least out of trouble.

Unless someone happens to know the "Castlertwoods on Lakeland Drive" or the "burger joint on Washington Blvd...", we would have no idea the city. City, state are sufficient.
