Ho-Ho-Ho, A Month To Go

I think I saw her at one of the Old Gringo's music tests. If anyone deserves an extra McRib samich for a buck and a large Dr Pepper, she does. Wonder if Sweet James will take the case?
Tis the season to see if you can get the best price for the Buckeye Media Hut with 72 Sold!

We tried, but they said it would take more than 72 hours to market this dump unique property. Even Wonderful Russ won't return our calls.

C'mon - a double-wide along with a couple of outbuildings on acreage should be marketable.

Doesn't Buckeye need yet another distribution warehouse? :ninja:

Hey, Akbar & Jeff have had a much longer run with the Media Hut than their Airport Snack Bar venture. ("Where The Elite Meet To Eat Reheated Treats!") That has to count for something.

We *are* referring to "beautiful, suburban, metropolitan Buckeye, AZ", right ⁉️

The Hut's well-worn Formica countertop surfaces, stained with cigarette burns has that oh so familiar feel of Ancient Modulation radio of a half-century ago.

I told Nurse Jeff not to drain the Gremlin's motor oil and radiator fluid into the grounds of the Media Hut. Now we have environmental issues and two headed jackrabbits out back!

Rumor has it that here in the Coachella Valley the contamination from the Salton Sea has produced a mutation called the "Jackelope" which it turns out is a cross between a desert jackrabbit and an antelope.

For many years, though, I thought it was a rabbit that ate cantaloupe. But, for a similarly long time I thought that the SRP was a salt mine.

...Formica countertop surfaces, stained with cigarette burns...
That describes more radio station studios than I can count!

Just in time for Thanksgiving. I hear they taste like chicken.
hmmm..a new profit center for Los Buckeye Boyz.

Due to supply shortages, we'll be offering our customers tasty two headed jackrabbits for their Turkey Day din-din. No need to use cooking oil...these silly wabbits are pre-soaked in 10w-30.

Of course, one must be of a certain age or older to truly appreciate the description...and smell from a time long ago.

Anecdote: Several studios I built during that era had the Formica counter top inlay sliced so that the piece in front of the board was easily replaceable without cutting and made with several spare inserts cut and saved.

I'm just flashing back to the time when Walter (Fred's business partner from Detroit) was coming to visit KKFR/KFYI and I was handed a can of Dow Scrubbing Bubbles to clean the formica in the dumpy 631 N 1st Ave studios during a Sunday morning shift. Smoking was allowed in the KFYI studio back then, and everyone was amazed to find that the furniture in the AM talk studio was really off-white and not deep yellow.

...why am I getting a mental picture of John Dahl when reading this? If you think the Adams St studios were a dump, did you ever see their xmttr site in West Phoenix? Land begging to be turned into stuccoed townhouses with tile roofs. And then there's the 12~Thirty crack house on Buckeye Road..land begging to be turned into a multi storied crack house.

Buckeye, all the way out to Tolleson, could be a multi-level drive-through crack fulfillment access drive, with retail establishments asking "do you want to supersize it" or "do you want it animal style?". A visitor center could explain the options and also reorient those trying to get to Sky Harbor (which, unfortunately, prevents Buckeye from invading the intellectual territory of Tempe or bothering the elite in Scottsdale.

I'm now envisioning another set of double-wides set up adjacent to the Buckeye Media Hut for the "Central Maricopa County Visitor Center and Museum". Open from 10A to noon and 1 to 4PM.

Or not. o_O

Sheriff Joe will maintain order in the parking lot while serving tasty green bologna sandwiches from the lukewarm Media Hut refrigerator. Masks not required, but bring your own Maalox.

Look for Nurse Jeff in pink underwear. 😱
