Kankakee's Comcast system was among the cable lineups listed in the grid. Although not shown in the Chicago edition, Kankakee also got WCIA-3 (CBS) Champaign on their cable lineup until at least the early 2000s, on cable channel 3 (but there is no "3" in the Kankakee cable lineup column on the grid, so either WCIA was still on Kankakee cable in 2003 or was dropped and cable 3 left blank or used for local access).

Kankakee may also have had WILL-12 (PBS) Urbana on cable for a time as well, but not for sure about that.

How close is Champaign-Urbana from Chicago?

How close is Champaign-Urbana from Chicago?
135 miles from C-U to Chicago.

And about 85 miles from WCIA's transmitter near Seymour, IL (about 10 miles west of Champaign near I-72) to Kankakee.

In recent years it may have been dropped from the county weather warning/forecast maps but for years, based on viewing area maps, Kankakee County was the northernmost county on WCIA's warning/coverage maps. With Fayette, Effingham (part of Champaign DMA), Jasper and Crawford counties in Illinois always the southern counties. Despite Jasper and Crawford being in the Terre Haute DMA and actually southwest of both TH and WTHI's transmitter near Farmersburg, Indiana.
