Today for the first time I found out why I've been hearing music when I pass the tower for what was the local Rush Limbaugh station.
I heard a station ID, and it's the oldies station. The former Rush affiliate has used the tower for a quarter of a century or however long, but the interference I was getting on a weak station playing Christmas music was the oldies station.
The AM tower for the oldies station is in a different part of town, since the stations were not co-owned until it was possible to have two AMs owned by the same company in the same market.
Now I don't know where the translator that aired Rush has its tower. Could be the same tower as its AM, I guess, but I didn't hear its programming interfering with my Christmas music.
