Sangean HDR14

Hello friends. I know this radio has been around for a few years but recently had the chance to re-acquirer this radio and really forgot how close this thing is to the ccrane 2e a radio double the price. My only complaint is the fm can overload but that is the only trade off. Not only does this thing have hd in a pocket radio, you are not losing out on reception. I was scanning the band tonight in Altamonte Springs FL and had both radios side by side and every fm station the 2e heard, the hdr14 also heard and hung with it in terms of seperation and sensitivity. It is really a better radio than you think or remember and if you have one, don't sell it like I did a few years back. It is really a traveling DXer's friend. Plus the speaker on it sounds double the size. The AM could be a touch clearer and the reception could be better, but I really did not get it for AM. The 2e is really the best AM portable out there or whatever model ccrane carries now.

Hello Austin, I have to agree that the Sangean HDR14 is a great radio. I got my first at a very discounted price, through a promotion Radio Shack’s online site was having and go it for either 45.99 or 49.99 and I liked it so much that I almost immediately got a second one, but alas, had to pay full price and got the 2nd off of Amazon. I haven’t had a problem with bleed over on the AM band, but I’m not that close to any AM towers/antennas. I know you sometimes travel and if you’re ever back in Tampa, WTMP 1150-Tampa sometime either in September or October started broadcasting in HD and it the music they play - oldies and Motown, sound great in stereo, glad I had some wired headphones to listen through! On the FM band, many of the FM stations in the Tampa and Orlando markets have some good HD2 channels that aren’t found elsewhere in their respective markets. In Orlando, WMGF 107.7HD2 carries smooth Jazz and WMFE 90.7HD2-Classical format (Classic-24 format) is something that is only available on the HD2, don’t think they even have a translator, but even if they do, the HD2 reception goes further than any of the Orlando translators.

Also, the size is perfect for traveling, it does not take up much room in an overnight bag or suitcase.

Happy New Year 2022!

90.7 WMFE-HD2 is Classical for the record, btw and 107.7 WMGF-HD2 is Smooth Jazz on what used to be 102.5 W273CA which carried the old WLOQ format from 103.1 FM.

Wow, I should not post in the wee early morning hours; at any rate, appreciate you clarifying my post and fortunately I was in time to correct/edit the original post! Thanks.

Thanks for the review, I've been thinking about getting an HDR 14, and this helps
