Betty White Dead at 99

This is so sad, just a few weeks before her 100th birthday. TMZ is reporting that iconic actress/comedian Betty White has passed away. No details yet.

Got link? Only TMZ is reporting it. No legitimate news source has it as yet. Let's hope this is just a hoax.

Betty had perfect comedic timing. It came natural to her. She could deliver a punchline straight faced.

Her SNL hosting was so classic.

The last of many eras for sure. What a great lady and she had an incredibly long career, especially for an actor / entertainer. According to Ryan Reynolds, she was one of the funniest ladies he'd ever met. Her Snickers commercial that aired during the Super Bowl a few years back was hilarious, and people campaigned heavily for her to host SNL, which she did on Mother's Day. It's a bit sad that she left us just weeks short of her 100th birthday. RIP, Betty!

sadly when celebrities die, TMZ is usually the first one to break it and sadly, we need to trust them when comes to that, they were the ones that broke the news of Michael Jackson in 2009.

RIP Betty White, America has lost it's beloved old lady.

Because TMZ pays for info. But that isn't what this is about.

Betty was legendary. Probably one of the top situation comedy actresses of the 20th century. Of course she was known for Golden Girls, and the Mary Tyler Moore show, but also sitcoms in the 50's and 60's.

In the tribute Seth Meyers posted about Betty, he mentioned that when she showed up to the afterparty the night she hosted SNL a few years back, she was the only host to ever get a standing ovation upon arrival to the afterparty....Then she ordered a vodka and a hot dog. I remember one night seeing her play beer pong on Jimmy Fallon's show. One amazing lady for sure. We should all hope to be as young and relevant at the age she was when she did those things.

You left out Password.

In my actual newspaper (which sadly is not an actual newspaper, so I can't cut the story out of it but will have to find a way to print it out) it said she played "Vicki Lawrence's irascible mother". I checked the Associated Press web site and it was correct there, but Lawrence WAS the irascible mother, to Betty. Imagine that! Lawrence played a character much older than herself and Betty still could pass for her daughter.

The cable channel CMT is running a Golden Girls marathon Monday. The diginet Buzzr had a 100th birthday celebration of shows with Betty on tap for the weekend of January 15 (Match Game on Saturday, Password on Sunday, various shows on Monday), but that will likely now become a tribute.
