Without an external antenna.
In ham and CB parlance, no external amplifier. In DX, I think it means no external antenna
FM: Around 1984 while driving in Virginia mountains SW of Washington listening to WKYS 93.9, I went around a corner, which presumably blocked me from WKYS, and to my astonishment heard Love 94 WWWL 93.9 in Miami coming in perfectly. I heard a break by someone I knew because I worked at Love 94 before just before relocating to Washington. Went around another corner and Love 94 was gone. I remember being quite happy about this because it provided a brief A-B comparison between the audio processing and loudness levels of the two stations, and because I did not drive off the road.

No reason not to given the subject matter of these old threads. Better this than to start new threads on the same topic, which would miss previously reported reception and background. I've never gone back through every page of "DX and Reception." Have you?

It was May of 1986. I was in the southern Michigan and suddenly started pulling in FM’s clear as anything from Wyoming, Montana, Utah and other stations from “out west”. My heart was racing and I got the cassette tape out and started recording for about an hour or so. I remember some of the frequencies were on positions like 96.1, 100.9, and some others that were as close as only 100 miles away. One time I remember I pulled in WZYP from Huntsville AL in the middle of Indiana. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I lived in an area where I could pull in Grand Rapids MI and Milwaukee WI which have some stations on the same number. Sometimes I could turn the antenna and pull in Indianapolis, Chicago, and occasionally Detroit on an old Toshiba boom box.

Great catch. Is the station still airing Radio Vision Cristiana? That was the branding before it went off air for a while. I’ll have to start checking out 530. I’ve only heard the Cubans there.
It was playing classical or piano music, IIRC. Sounded pleasant, relaxing. I didn't listen long, but will next time I hear it.
That sounds like Radio Enciclopedia in Cuba.

Thats not the turks and caicos station, im pretty sure its not even on the air.. it hasnt been in several years. You heard a station from cuba.
The format you describe is the one on the Cuban station. The T&C, if back on the air, station is evangelical Christian.
