Hearing from a very good source that a big cluster is leaving NYC any guess who it could be? Announcement to come soon from what I hear .
Can't be iheart or audacy. Univision? They already sold 92.7.Hearing from a very good source that a big cluster is leaving NYC any guess who it could be? Announcement to come soon from what I hear .
Univision already moved its radio operations to NJ. Done. Can't be iheart or audacy. Univision? They already sold 92.7.
"Moving" is not the same as "Selling". "Moving" means removing operations from NYC and, possibly, NY state to another location that is more efficient cost-wise.Could be Emmis or maybe Cumulus finally sells their remaining stations.
Oh my mistake."Moving" is not the same as "Selling". "Moving" means removing operations from NYC and, possibly, NY state to another location that is more efficient cost-wise.
You mean Mediaco? They purchased majority control of WBLS and Hot a few years ago.Emmis needs to stay. Hot 97 is heritage as is BLS. They can't get rid of them.
OP didn't say "moving," he said "leaving NYC." That's ambiguous, it could either mean leaving high-rent Manhattan for cheaper studio space in New Jersey, or exiting the market altogether. I took it to mean the latter.
I don't consider where iHeart is to be Midtown. More like Soho, Canal Street area.I agree. During the pandemic people have been working more from home, making expensive Manhattan facilities extraneous. Every company has efficiency experts looking for ways to consolidate resources. There was a stretch when the CBS cluster was operating from four different buildings around town. They consolidated everyone on Hudson street just a few years ago, so I doubt its them. iHeart is also fairly consolidated in mid-town.
The Emmis/Mediaco situation is very different. Jeff seems to be planning some kind of retirement strategy. Perhaps he's ready to make that situation more permanent.
iHeart will be shortly moving their New York studios from 32 Avenue of the Americas into the building where the company's main headquarters are on 55th Street.I don't consider where iHeart is to be Midtown. More like Soho, Canal Street area.

Actually, it's in Tribeca.I don't consider where iHeart is to be Midtown. More like Soho, Canal Street area.
Apologies to Jimmy Ruffin and fans of his classic Motown hit, but I couldn't help but sing that question. Wish I could come up with a rhyme for "theater."The question is: What becomes of the iHeart Theater, located on the 1st floor of 32 AA?
