KSL-1160- Finally captured it !

Finally heard KSL 1160 AM.
Last night, I tuned in and moved my Grundig Yachtboy in different directions and heard talk about a "Brigham Young coach..."
That's about all I heard before it faded.
And even that was very faint. Not a good signal at all into central Texas, north of Austin in the Georgetown area.

There have been times where I thought I was hearing a decent signal of KSL, but turned out to be Relevant Radio, which at the time was talking about a movie star's good works in supporting a charity, etc. His name escapes me. Keenau Reeves? Matthew McConaughy? As it was general talk, and not focused on Catholicism, thought it might be KSL.

When I turn the radio in different directions, as if to null another signal, it usually doesn't null anything as there aren't many other signals on 1140 at night, none that I've gotten. I don't normally hear much on 1160, other than Relevant Radio on occasion.
Looking online, I see KRDY, San Antonio, is 10kw/day, 5kw night, Relevant Radio.
Its expected nighttime propagation along with KBDT, Dallas, covers this area and cuts-out KSL.

I got KSL again last night.
It was only briefly, but a more listenable signal, though no one could describe as strong.
It was at the start of a BYU basketball postgame.
When I returned after scanning the other frequencies, it was gone.

I did capture 1070 KNX and its characteristic traffic signal. But, again, only briefly and very, very weak.
I don't think 1070 has ever come in with a listenable signal as long as I've been here in central Texas.

From south Overland Park, Kansas:

Before local KCTO was licensed to broadcast on 1160 kHz, KSL was a regular here most every evening. At times, quite listenable. On rare occasion, they break through the 240 watt nighttime signal of KCTO even though I am in a directional pattern lobe.

i can hear it up here in alaska some/most nights, from poor to fairly well

Where are you located at?

He says in his post, "Not a good signal at all into central Texas, north of Austin in the Georgetown area."
