New Austin translator on 94.1

Here's a new one with a construction permit, because it's under new ownership perhaps the new owner will use it. Apparently the old licensee was just hogging the channel with the license and not using the translator, pardon my French.

It will rebroadcast KTXZ.

Going as far back as i can in the LMS database, the person who owns it now is the person who applied for it 8 years ago, Wendelynn Tellez.

I can't find any connection between KTXZ and Wendelynn but it doesnt mean one doesnt exist. I only spent 5 minutes looking.

I believe "Wendolynn Tellez" moved in K231CZ during the AM revitalization window from somewhere in South Texas. The license of KTXZ (Garcia) would have supposedly needed to grant permission for this to take place, but they never owned the translator and Tellez sold the translator to Charles Crawford last year. As far as I am aware the translator was never actually on the air.

The upgrade application to cover SW Austin was just granted today. I am very doubtful that it will eventually rebroadcast a high-band tejano station, but i guess who knows.

Remember the 96.3 Tellez translator in Austin? I have heard one of Garcia's AMs on it, think it was KOKE 1600 which broadcast Tejano a couple years back... Before the translator lost it's license for not broadcasting from the correct site.

Maybe another go for Tejano on FM with a different translator owner.

The engineer who did some paperwork on this at one point is also a Tellez.. i think his address is in laredo. i dont feel like going back through the paperwork to peak

Some people haven't been nice to the Tellezs on this board... I remember someone calling them "Laredo Losers" a while back.

On the radiation pattern, looked like a lobe pointing right at Cedar park. I wonder if that might cause any issues for the oldies station on 94.3 up there… Or even the Spanish religious LPFM station on 94.3 in East Austin.

This isnt houston, so theres a chance this 250 watt translator will operate as its supposed to and not 2kw non directional

I think that lobe towards Cedar Park on fccdata is not accurate. If you pull up the attachment in the actual application you will see a much more traditional directional pattern.

I have personal experience dealing with Tellez 'ministry'. I have not one thing to say that is nice so as my mother said, if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all.

Check K260CH assigned to Dilley, Texas. It shows KYND as the station translated. What is interesting is KYND is in Cypress, Texas. KQQB 1520 is in Stockdale, Texas. Look up Dilley, Cypress and Stockdale on the map. Then explain how KYND is translated 'off air'.

KYND learned about this when our application for a translator was declined since we already 'had one in Dilley'. Draw your own conclusions.

You ever been to Laredo? The only winners are the people who make it out and never go back.
I have friends from Laredo who have, in the family, farms, ranches, a construction company and local politicians. They seem to love it!

The reason KQQB is licensed to Stockdale is because it would not cause any interference to KYND because KYND is so far away. You might be able to pull in KQQB with a scratchy signal in Dilley but certainly not KYND, which was my point. I know the owner of KQQB. He's had a tough time keeping the station going out of pocket.

I suggest he sell it or lease it out. I wonder if the owner's still programming classic hits on it.
I've read that his brother who used to own KQQB passed on a few years back. Kinda feel sorry for the new guy trying to keep things afloat.

He has tried/is trying to lease it and sell it. Those are easy words to say but it can take a few years for either to happen. Meanwhile, you keep going in to debt further and further and stay of top of FCC requirements.

theres also a LPFM on 94.1 in Round Rock. It’s Spanish language, but not sure if it’s religious or just regional Mexican tunes.
