New Austin translator on 94.1

Could be the terrain… CP is 1100ft on a ridge.
Are we talking about the same thing? I’m talking about the Spanish religious “LP” that broadcast from the roof of the Berkshire Hathaway building on 35 just north of 79.

The new translator serving southwest Austin on 94.1 shouldn’t be on the air yet.

Wow. I’m surprised you know the roof it’s broadcasting from! Yeah, 94.1 is really strong from 183a and east toward Round Rock. It cross channel interferes a bit with Oldies 94.3 in the CP area like 183a and 1431. 94.3 would have a good signal in Avery ranch if it weren’t for 94.1 in RR.

There’s a station on 94.1 mono at El Salido and Pecan Creek. Whenever I drive by there’s no audio, but it’s ALWAYS on air.

Must be one of those low power vehicle transmitters. Unless the signal travels more than a block or so.

I figured it might be one of those Chinese “whole house transmitters” from EBay, where “low power” mode is 1watt! Lol. The signal gets out pretty good and is crystal clear for at least a half mile. I’ll drive up that way on a Sunday morning and see if maybe it’s a church broadcasting their service.

I just noticed the 94.1 K231CZ translator is moving back to the tower it is supposedly licensed forr and not on the air on (apparently).
That translator was never built or on the air. It should have been deleted as a rule of law.

The current silent STA was filed on June 16, 2021 shortly before the translator was sold. Silent stations area automatically deleted if operation is not resumed within a year.

My guess is the proposed station serving SW Austin either couldn't be built before mid June or they have a better upgrade plan, but will be cutting it too close to mid June, so they are retreating to the the old "licensed" facility for an easy and inexpensive build out now, then will re-file an upgrade application after the resumption of operation has taken place, which will eliminate the current ticking clock.
