Definitely more than one thread. One of those.. you had to be there at the time to fully get it. That is one old thread I will have to search out and read.
Also Robin & Maynard. Can’t forget them.

You're right about Kokomo in MULTIPLE threads! A long running joke going back as far as ..2013?? Robin and Maynard had a lot fun with it, from what I read so far. I'm getting it now.Definitely more than one thread.
Also Robin & Maynard. Can’t forget them.
Because THEY WEREN'T ACTIVE. It was an error I DISCOVERED in the FCC database that was quickly corrected. The KNWN calls HAVE NOT YET gone into effect. PERIOD.
And Pat Cashman, Pat O'Day, Gary Lockwood, blah, blah. During those threads, you'd think those were the only on air personalities in Seattle-ever.Definitely more than one thread.
Also Robin & Maynard. Can’t forget them.
Also afternoons on the old KXRX, late 80's and 90's.Were Robin and Maynard the morning show on KJR-FM in the mid-'90s? If not, I am far too young to remember any of those names with the exception of Pat Cashman's run on the relaunched KJR around 2003.

I do not see any evidence that either Lotus or Bonneville have trademarked or service marked either “Northwest News” or “Northwest Newsradio” (Tegna and Cowles have similar trademarks for “Northwest NewsChannel” and “Northwest News Network”.)Didn't anyone notice KIRO-FM has new imaging emphasizing "Northwest News"? KOMO/KNWN is taking so long getting out of the gates that KIRO-FM is swooping in making it look to most listeners that KNWN will be stealing from KIRO-FM.
The obvious similarities to the current KOMO 1000/97.7 logo (heck, even the mere usage of Futura) suggest that this will not be as dramatic a change as one had been thinking. The change will probably will be no fanfare whatsoever, just mere omission of the “KOMO” name from all imaging.I grabbed this off nwnewsradio.com (they had this as their icon), which now redirects to a WordPress login. Looks we're inching closer to relaunch.

It appears to the final version, evidenced by the link: https://www.nwnewsradio.com/wp-cont...NWNEWSRADIO_LOGOFINAL_STACKED-600-192x192.png
again, correct. they've told advertisers exactly what they are going to do, there is no mystery here. The obvious similarities to the current KOMO 1000/97.7 logo (heck, even the mere usage of Futura) suggest that this will not be as dramatic a change as one had been thinking. I think it was originally KJR that it was pointed out playing that a lot, when their core playlist was mid-'70s through mid--'80s. As that song is 1988, it was a bit out of the core lane. That being said, I've long advocated for the joke to be updated, as now that would be right in the center of their playlist, but I've heard songs such as Iris from 1998 on that station. At the risk of stating the obvious, the Kokomo reference was from when KMCQ played the song a lot during their search for a buyer, not out of listener demand.

But Kokomo was the reason KMCQ became the ratings juggernaut it was! Oh..wait..At the risk of stating the obvious, the Kokomo reference was from when KMCQ played the song a lot during their search for a buyer, not out of listener demand.
Depends on if Bonneville first-use service-marked "Northwest Newsradio"/"Northwest News" or not.Lance has an update on Radio Insight about the "Northwest News" name battle between KOMO/KNWN and KIRO. Both will be calling themselves by that name. Since KIRO was first, not sure if KNWN will keep it as is, or rebrand.
But... What if they identify themselves as North-West and News-Radio, instead of Northwest and Newsradio? And where should the emphasis be? On the NEWS, or the RADIO? Just so many options, makes your head spin!Depends on if Bonneville first-use service-marked "Northwest Newsradio"/"Northwest News" or not.
All-news radio goes by simple, punctual branding if the call letters are not an option (or a network brand like CityTV or Global aren't). Calling the station "Northwest Newsradio" is absurd, that should be the slogan, not the brand.
Also makes sense per Lance that the FCC goofed up and made the KNWN callsign active a month ahead of time, thus Lotus had to withdraw and re-file.
