KOGT-AM To Shut Down 12/31

Here is a statement from station management

KOGT Radio, one of Orange’s oldest, continually-operated business, will be ceasing all operations Friday.

Gary Stelly, who has owned the station for 30 years, made the announcement Tuesday during The Morning Show. He cited a number of factors, including changing media.

“I look forward to reminiscing during The KOGT Morning Show the next couple of mornings and having the opportunity to thank the people that have been there for us,” Stelly said.

Hopefully the Astros can find a radio affiliate nearby. KEZM, their affiliate out of Lake Charles, was destroyed by Hurricane Laura in 2020. Now this. KTRH has a strong nighttime signal, as it reaches Orange, but it doesn't travel very far beyond the state line. It maybe gets to Vinton before it fades. To the east, 103-7 The Game out of Lafayette reaches Jennings, but doesn't make it close to Lake Charles metro.

KEZM 1310 was deleted, they handed in their license

Okay, good to know. I'm sure the hurricane played some part in their disappearance from the airwaves, as they were broadcasting before the storm, but not after.
