Holiday 2021 ratings

Just looked at the holiday ratings and had a few thoughts.
No suprise that KDGE was #1 with more than a ten share.
Also interesting to see the steady rise in ratings for KSKY. It's been several years since it cracked the one share mark.
3 HD subchannels show up for a second rating period in a row. It'll be interesting to see if that trend continues and if any of them can move beyond the lowest measurable rating.

It seems to be gradually transitioning into a Rock/Talk hybrid, which is likely going to go full Talk/Sports in the next few years. It reminds me of the old Chicago station WCKG that started off as a rocker, but slowly added more and more Talk and Sports programming, before finally converting to full-on Talk/Sports sometime in the late 1990's/early 2000's (I was very young so I don't remember the exact date they abandoned the music completely).

It's likely the ratings are going to continue falling as the music listeners abandon ship for KVIL (who is playing several of the songs on KEGL's playlist) and before the Talk and Sports-oriented listeners gradually realize that KEGL is carrying their kind of programming.
 
No way will iHeartMedia do sports radio better than Audacy! Audacy has WFAN, WEEI, WIP, WXYT, and so many more. What does iHeartMedia have that is in the same calibre? Fox Sports Radio?

pretty much it, i can see KEGL flipping to "Fox Sports 97.1" with Mavs and Ben & Skin as the flagship of the station. and with 103.3 sold and flipping to religion/conservatize talk soon, i can see FSR leaving the Ticket for 97.1 with the Ticket taking over the ESPN Radio afflation in the market.

But the number of successful Fox Sports stations under iHeart is very small.

I think the station should just stick to music. I believe someone who worked at KEGL was involved in Child Pornogarphy

yes, that is true, it was Clo from The Russ Martin Show/The Treehouse, he was caught being a pedo last year and got arrested almost 2 weeks ago and the rest of the Treehouse already distanced themselves away from him as they too didn't know about it.


if KEGL sticks to a music format but flip anyway, it should be a format that blends in perfectly with the Mavs which would be hip-hop/rap.

If a flip happens, likely a throwback hip-hop/R&B format will suffice. Perhaps Audacy will stick to Alt if that means making listeners fly away from the Eagle.

Or an Adult R&B/Urban AC format. If KEGL did flip to such a format, it would be pretty funny given how many people were beating the drum for KVIL to flip to that.

Including me. I'm one of the people who sounded the clarion call on KVIL's record low ratings!

Certainly the Urban AC format would have to be more uptempo, if so.

I never posted about it before, but I definitely agreed Audacy should have flipped one of their underperforming stations to Urban AC as well. KVIL for obvious reasons, and there were even calls for KMVK to flip formats as well, except they seem to be doing okay with their mostly talk format a la KLYY in Los Angeles.

Well Audacy isn’t going to flip KVIL now, not if the ratings keep going up and they keep convincing KEGL listeners to make KVIL P1. It’s rather shocking how much can change in a few months.

it does not make sense to flip KVIL to a format that has to compete with 2 Adult R&B stations even though signally challenged that have a foothold in the community already. Trust me, if you not going to be in the streets like the other 2 stations, then its not worth it. Plus Audacy does not have a high power Urban to tag along with it. They are behind from the word GO!!!!
