Something new coming to Hartford

I hope it's not another religious or Spanish station. We don't need another of either one!
I actually enjoy the various Regional Mexican musical genres, and listen to internet streams occasionally, but there probably aren't enough Spanish-dominant listeners of Mexican descent in the Meriden/Hartford area to give that format much of a chance. As for religious formats, well, suckers continue to be born every minute, so they're always a possibility.

Why would FPR launch another Spanish format on 102.5/1470 when they already have BOMBA?

Thats liek saying what would Iheart launch another country station when they already have WWYZ?

Spanish is a language and not a format.. theres other spanish language formats they could do.

Gois has operated more than 1 spanish language station at the same time.

I assume you're referring to the "Bull" stations iHeart has set up -- often on inferior signals -- in several markets. There's never been any hint that iHeart is interested in doing that in Hartford. In fact, it even killed off the classic country it had on WWYZ-HD2 in favor of The Breeze.

It was just a example picked out of thin air with no basis in reality to try and make my point

Well, I made an assumption way back when they changed the call to WBOM. It kinda says it all and I figured eventually it would be just that. The other thing is what has happened to WBOM 1470? I tried tuning in all day yesterday to see if something has happened yet and even though 102.5 was still running the program, I heard what seemed to be a distant adjacent station in the background noise and on the adjacent channels was what seemed to be fairly strong digital noise. Have they gone digital only? I'll be leaving for work soon and checking that out as soon as I get in the car. Also, is it just me or has the audio quality of WTIC-AM gone way down for a while now? It almost sounds as if they went from the standard bandwidth they once had and narrowed it as though to make more room for a stronger digital signal, but I don't think that's how that works, especially since digital AM can only have one channel (or has that changed) and wouldn't need more space for digital.

1470 had been suffering from periodic problems for a few months in 2021. I didn't realize it was sill happening. I know one time they must've been completely off the air because I couldn't even pick them up in the Meriden Boscov's parking lot and 1470's antenna is on Leonard Street and that's near the mall.

If they're still having problems you should call Full Power Radio and leave a voice mail for their Engineering Department. 860-243-1115. I don't listen to The Talk of Connecticut, so I can't be bothered calling them.
