Format flip coming up?

Did anyone see the report on Radio Insight about Townsquare and the Jersey Shore? Apparently a format flip is expected.

More details are behind a pay wall so.....

Link the article?
he told you where to find it and said its behind a payall.. you wont be able to reach much of it but i think you can find the website on your own.

Well this is interesting. But I feel Thunder will focus more on attracting the misplaced New Country 94.7 crowd and they will still pull in good numbers. IMO about Cat Country, off the bat I assumed this was a simulcast of WPUR until I didn't see 107.3 included in the logo.

1310 is listenable in Southern Brooklyn----when it was WJLK country it wasn't.I guess they have a better transmitter or more power since then.

Really needed? 107.3 from AC already covers the majority of 104.1's area. Perhaps only Monmouth County could see any potential (in areas beyond 107.3's area north of Toms River) but Thunder WKMK/WTHJ has a better signal, so the only benefit here is filling the void (if any) left by 94.7 from Newark.

Heck, maybe make it a full simulcast 96.7 (Monmouth) / 104.1 (Ocean) / 107.3 (Atlantic/Cape May)

And call it "Jersey Shore Country" like the old 100.1 WJRZ did years ago since it would reach the majority of NJ's 130 miles of coastline. Then it would have closer to the amount of Coverage as Thunder...

I liked the name, as well as the former 107.1 the Breeze. Both very fitting names for being shore stations

Speaking of the Breeze I noticed 99.7 moved their transmitting location the the same site as 106.5 ...A bit of a move from Downtown Beach Haven...I bet its a bit better now in most of Ocean County, but its also directional to the west now to protect 99.5 WJBR

99.7 moved a few years ago. The old Verizon tower they were using in Beach Haven was taken down, and they needed to find a new location. The 106.5 tower was originally a STA, but they settled there after being unable to find a better site. Between 99.5s in Wilmington and NYC, plus 99.3 in Atlantic City, that signal is pretty limited as to where it can go.

WJRZ at 100.1 and 94.3 the point are also stuck. You have Z100 at 100.3 and 100.3 in Philly for WJRZ. For 94.3 you have PST at 94.5, YSP at 94.1, 94.3 the Shark on LI all close to it. Very short spaced signals as most of this area is. The FCC should amend its rules to allow shorter distances between co-channels and adjacents.

This is really a shame. I've been in Tom's River as of lately and enjoyed Beach Radio quite a lot, especially its audio processing. Back at my home in Haddon Heights 1160 is listenable enough and I enjoyed oldies on AM, but yes I know...that's about as profitable as a left handed smoke shifter.
