I drove through Oakland, Lawrenceville and Bloomfield today 13 to 25 Miles line of site from W280FG Transmitter the signal was Strong even Between the Buildings. Hard to Believe for 8 Watts. That's what it's supposed to be doing.
I'm assuming one of those stations is WALY-FM in Altoona, which currently has an extremely directional antenna pattern aimed away from WKHB. What are the other two, WVIW and WQWV? It also looks like a bunch of other translators would be knocked off the air too if they got the upgrade. That upgrade involves 3 other stations changing frequency. To make that happen there has to be agreement to move, transmitter changes or replacement, antenna changes or replacement. Forever, a christian outfit, and mountain state radio are involved. Sounds like a pipe dream to me. Very expensive to pay everyone off, and that is, if they agree. Lots of moving parts.
I'm not sure of this because KHB's new class B1 service countour would fully encompass their existing class A service contour. Might not be enough to knock the translator off the air though.Actually given that they are proposing a move of 103.9 from Scottdale to Uniontown (and I guess locating it in the KVE tower) it will be further away from the WWNL translator and potentially allow it more power.
That is WKHB (AM) which airs a brokered talk service during the day and classic hits at night. I actually kind of like their classic hits, but wished they transmit in stereo from their FM translators (they don't). This is WKHB-FM which has a different format (adult contemporary). Both are owned by the same company, though. I hope they can get the upgrade and knock the "ten watt waste" that is W280FG off the air.I’m just totally pissed off by wkhb they have like 3 different stations playing the same feed.
Which means someone who thought they were hearing W280FG was actually hearing WKHB. DX News is just people submitting updates they think they hear, with no confirmation done.January 25th issue of DX News is Reporting 103.9 WKHB is also on 103.9 W280FG. As of February 3rd it's still WWNL and no Sale is listed on the FCC website.
