Bender's Dad Dick Cunningham has passed away.

I was sad to hear the announcement that Bender's dad passed away last month. He was often heard on KISS-FM from time to time.

Bender wrote on his Facebook page:

We laid my dad to rest this week. He suddenly and unexpectedly passed away Sunday morning, January 9th.

My dad was undeniably my hero and my idol and I just adored him. He was my best man, my greatest influence and my constant sounding board. He was the man I looked up to and wanted to be like. By the time I landed my first gig, I had already gone through a Master Class. I loved going to work with him when I was a kid. Later, it was always surreal when HE came to work with ME. I loved our competitiveness in surprising one another with visits. 3,000 miles never stopped us. Showing up out of nowhere for celebrations or just to say hi. Our love for M*A*S*H and The West Wing. Coke and Hershey Bars. Ice cream sandwiches and the old Nilla Wafers. He was always the first call when I had news about anything. He loved his grandkids more than anything and was so proud of what they were doing.

And yes, he loved the Poetry bit.

As Col Potter once said to Radar, "Lord knows I've never met a soul I could depend on more, but above all that, you've been a damn good friend. Well, friend, it's time we said goodbye. You've come as far as you can go here. You've earned your wings. Now you've gotta fly."

Aside from my kids, I've never been more proud of anything in my life than being my dad's son and I'll miss him more than I can express.
