Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Floyd Kalber still anchoring at 10 on Channel 5 at that time?

I just checked the archives, and yes you're right, it WAS Floyd Kalber.

Just checked again, and the January 11 listings have Jim Ruddle. Apparently, Ruddle was anchoring for that week in that slot.

Historic note: Channels 20 and 26 broadcasted entirely in black & white. The former went dark in mid-1974, the latter switched to color on New Year's Eve of that year.

Rand, you were born on Monday of Super Bowl Week V. A battle of the blues (airing on WMAQ in ChiTown). The (Baltimore) Colts beat the Dallas Cowboys at the Orange Bowl. Happy Belated Birthday!

Re Chs. 20 and 26*, did Chicago's Ch. 20 return to the air at some later date?

*Wash., DC has that pair of channels too.

Ch. 20 returned in 1983 as WYCC. Check out my chronologies of TV stations in different markets here.
