Atlanta Ratings 2-22-22

Out of the top five, Cox wins with four of the slots.

WSB comes back, so last month must have been a blip.

FISH has it lowest of the last four books. A bounce effect from Christmas??

The WSB-FM stream got a 0.5 and WVEE got a 0.6. That is a lot of stream listenership. It seems they keep trending up.

Where is 96.7? I see WBZW with a 0.1, but I see WBZY listed twice with different numbers.

The Bull is up, but still behind 101-Five who seems to have found some wind behind their sails.

Looks like 105.3 will hang out in the upper 1’s-low 2’s. Not too bad considering the competition. They’re not far behind Hot which is great for iHeart but bad for U1.

V103 back below a 4….Atlanta is oddly both Audacy and iHeart’s weakest large market cluster, it seems.

The gap between Q and Power is wild. Rock 100.5 must bill extremely well to stay on the air. OG97.9 is a translator and isn’t far behind them. Would OG do better than Rock 100.5 if placed on the 100.5 signal?

Another great success story for Rock 100.5! :)

Axel believes pairing himself with the surviving co-host of the morning show he helped ruin in P.M. drive will lead to ratings growth. It'll be interesting to see if that strategy reaps any rewards in the ratings moving forward.

WBZW is near the bottom of the list with "N/A". After the stunt "Christmas 96.7" gave them a 1.0 share (remarkable for this tiny signal), they dropped off the edge of the earth with the "El Patron" format.

Odd that WBZY (105.7) has two entries with different numbers.

That’s why I was wondering if one of those WBZY entries was for WBZW? Highly doubt they’re still pulling a 1 share on 96.7 though.

I got my hands on a 25-54 ranker in ATL... its def a different story than the 6+ story:

6) River
7) AMJ
8) Kiss
9) Hot
10) Bull
11) WSB
12) Fish
13) Q HD3
14) Rock 100
15) 105.3 The Beat

Wait Kiss is only 8th on 25-54, when they are #1 in 6+? Either they have a lot of young 18-34 listeners, or the 55+ audience is receptive towards the increasing amount of hip-hop throwbacks on the playlist.

Or the 25-54 ranker could be pertaining to cume.

(And OG actually is between the Fish and Rock 100.5? When they are just a translator?)

Yes, cume. I can see avg persons too

Top 5 18-34 is Q, B, River, V, and Star. Power is #6

So it looks very similar to 25-54. Kiss seems to be doing better with the older folks.

I just got the P 25 54 for January 2022. I posted with share however looks like it didn't make it. I will try to get 18 34. later

1. Q99.7
2 FISH
3 WALR
4 B98.5
5 River
6 V103 (wow)
7 WAMJ
8 WSB News
9 Power 96.1
10 STAR

The PPM Analysis article from All Access shows WVEE tied for 4th 25-54, tied for 3rd 18-34, and 5th 18-49. It seems the music on the station isn't really appealing to those who are 55+ who were likely only listening to Frank Ski, which has led to their decrease in 6+ share. They're still doing very well in the key demos, albeit not as dominant as before.

Frank Ski leaving V had the same effect as Scott Shannon leaving WPLJ to CBS FM. FATAL for V103 and WPLJ. When will these companies learn??

It depends...it's fatal for 6+, but most of Ski's audience is in the older half of the demo. So the question these companies ask is do they want to continue to pay more (because there's a huge increase every contract) for an aging audience? WPLJ's problem is Cumulus simply couldn't afford Shannon any more, and ultimately, they sold the station and left the market.

Q being so much higher than Power 25-54 is simply stunning. Especially since Q has a younger leaning playlist.

I would love to see the numbers with The Bert Show subtracted.

Is 101-Five doing that badly? Not even top 15 25-54?

Olympic-Sized Pun Alert:

So you're saying that WVEE's lower ratings was the result of a downhill Ski?

sorrycouldn'thelpitjusthadtodoitcouldn'tholditback (does Atlanta have someone named curling?)

I feel the same happened when Rickey Smiley left HOT 107.9 and they switched up the entire on air lineup.

Atlanta urban radio can be very picky. Many here get accustomed to hearing there favorite jocks daily. Frank Ski, Ryan Cameron, Joyce Litel, and Youngblood just to name a few that left and returned. When the newbies come in or its voicetracked, its a hard to win over dedicated listeners especially with the increasing number or Urban options.

N/A is used in some web charts for a station that is no longer subscribed buy has historical numbers in earlier months.

Remember, unless a Spanish language station is a) in a market with an HDHA and, b) has a good signal in the HDHA (s) it will likely not show at all or with very low numbers.

Perhaps the website you went to has an error. It is up to the website to label formats, owners, etc.
