Nash 106.5 and Energy 92.1 are both doing terrible. Energy is all over the place playing pop and hip hop along with older hits. Not even close to Mix 97.7 Now Nash 106.5 is in the basement not even close to Gator 107.9 at all and gets beat by Eagle 92.9 out of Florence. I'm surprised Cumulus MB hasn't rebranded away from the Nash brand, not sure if that will help. Also how is Easy and Talk doing? I notice WRNN has dropped a bit.

My ideas what to do with 92.1 and 106.5

For 106.5 possible rebrand sticking with country or going another format all together Urban AC to go along with sister 98.5 KISS FM

As for 92.1 should they try going hip hop or even AC? 92 Jamz Blazin Hip Hop sound like 102 Jamz in Greensboro and compete with 98.5 KISS FM. If not hip hop do they want to try another go at AC Magic 92.1 Today's Hits Yesterday's Favorites. Wouldn't compete with Easy 105.9. A couple markets in Florida have a AC and Soft AC and both stations do well. Try it in Myrtle.
 
Myrtle Beach does not have an AC. Last time I was in an Arby's it played WGNI Wilmington.

It's a shame WEZV is not listed. it would be interesting to know if changing back to soft AC helped.
 
I always wondered why Sunny moved from the 106.5 signal to the 103.1 signal when it does quite well with classic hits. That swap never made much sense to me.
 
I'm not sure if it showed up thru that link, but look at 92.1's instagram post just an hour ago. Looks like a potential rebrand or format change may be coming Friday.

I see their Facebook page has a vague 92.1 logo and with a caption that says "Friday 10am" 92.1 hasn't been on fire. What do you think they would change to?

NDorman, I agree that is also needed, but I think Cumulus should do that on 103.1 and move Sunny back to the 106.5 50K watt signal considering how well it is doing. Look at Charleston, Savannah, and Florence. They have the combo with Urban AC branded as "Magic". Magic 103.1 would work nicely if programmed right. Add D.L. Hugley and Steve Harvey and you may have a winner.

Agreed. I'm surprised Cumulus doesent have an adult R&B in the grand strand. 98.5 used to be urban ac then went hip hop. I remember the failed Urban AC iHeart tried at 107.1 years ago. A shame that didn't work. I think many years later fast forward to now, it could work. If it's not hip hop or Adult R&B, a rhythmic ac/throwback station would be fun too. But at this point, who knows.

This is what should happen. No need for so many country stations. And 92.1 should be Hot AC or mainstream AC since mainstream AC is missing locally. WGNI can be heard in MB and maybe Y-102.5 to the south and Q-100.5 to the northwest.
 
Looking at the maps on paper, 103.1 actually appears to be a better signal than 106.5. The 106.5 signal hits Georgetown instead of the northern part of the strand, 103.1 hits most of the strand but isn’t as strong in Georgetown.

Cumulus already covers Georgetown with the class C 96.9 signal from Charleston which is classic hits, so maybe 103.1 is the best signal to hit North Myrtle etc.
 
I agree, these two freqs should have never been swapped. When I started as OM for Cumulus-MB in 2002, Sunny 106.5 had a 7 share 12+. In our first book we made that a 10. Also, WYAK (103.1 25kW) beat WGTR (50kW) for the first time in many years when I was there. They threw away a ton of heritage for both stations and look where they are now.
