Not really, much like your snarky response. Have a great day!Does it really matter?
Why is a question snarky? Curious why you think it matters. Not really, much like your snarky response. Have a great day!
It wasn't intended that way. Was genuinely curious to why that mattered to a viewer. I've seen a lot of research and attended a lot of focus groups. I can think of only one other comment, where a viewer of any station was concerned about the management title of a meteorologist or presenter. Also the remark does come across rather rude.
But to a viewer, does it matter who is the 'Chief Meteorologist' is? For someone following a minutia like that, does it make their forecast delivery more credible or seemingly more reliable?I understand the question. Mike Everett is the first "chief" meteorologist at KING since Jeff Renner retired. It may be only a title, but at KOMO there is only one "chief"--Shannon O'Donnell. At KIRO it is Morgan Palmer and at Fox13 it is Lisa Villegas. The title has always seemed to represent the "prime time" weather anchor.
In the business, the viewer is everything. Generally a chief title is given to the manager of that bureau or department. Sometimes their title comes with no direct reports, just a title. Other's actually manage a small group under the News Director. It might not to some viewer, but to others it may. Why is one reporter called the "Chief" White House Correspondent and another, standing right next to each other in the same shot, just a White House Correspondent. It's important to the reporter, it may be important to a viewer. In the context of this website, where everyone worked or works in the business, or is interested in the business, it is an interesting discussion point. Why do they always refer to Morgan Palmer as "Chief" Meteorologist. Obviously its important to somebody.
Especially is a business that is scrutinized as highly as local TV.
So, does Mike Everett work a split week or what? Adam Claibon seems to be at the board during the week, especially on Mondays. No objection. here. I’m in Camp Claibon.
Some fan's feel their favorite should be given the chief title. They have 3 full time mets right now and one freelancer covering 5 full time slots. Of the 3 full time, 1 is in his 70s and has a very early start time that makes it hard for him to shuffle around.
