94.7 The Block

They subscribed at one time. After getting beaten in the ratings, they stopped.
Their last 3-book average got a 2.1, which considering that they have a 60 mV/m signal over less than 10% of the market population, that is not bad at all.

The embedded Suffolk/Nassau I'm assuming....?
Yes, Nassau/Suffolk. The East End separate "embedded in an embedded" market stopped existing when the PPM began and none of the stations way out there wanted to pay about 50% or so more for a local book.

The stations out there probably have nearly as many listeners across the Sound in Connecticut as they do on Long Island. WALK-FM in Patchogue is local to a good chunk of Connecticut from New Haven to Stamford.

Don't know where Ed Lover's show come from, but it sounds like he's in a basement or bathroom studio or something. It sounds VT, though.

On a recent podcast interview, Ed was located at an Atlanta residence.
From the press release: "He's also heard on Saturday morning at Audacy Urban WVEE (V103)/Atlanta."

It's likely the NY + Chicago shows are tracked from there.

Have they made the antenna move? And if not, I wonder why. That CP has been out there for some time.
It was contingent on DA modifications at WMAS, which were just made in the last few months. And the supply chain has been just as problematic for broadcast gear as for everything else.

What is interesting of the air talent makeup of the station is Nick Cannon really doesn't appeal to African American ADULTS, and Ed Lover used to sound like NY when he was on HOT 97 and Power but now there is nothing new or a reason to listen. As I wrote in earlier posts WBLS will not take a ratings hit from The Block nor will HOT or Power.

If anything WBLS posted their largest numbers in a few months in the February PPM month. When budgets are tight and you can build a real local live team, it will be very very tough to win for Block.

The maybe the goal is something other than to win. Not every station can be #1. There are lots of radio stations in the NY area. Almost all of them are not #1. So maybe there's another reason for this format on this station at this time.
