New York is getting a new oldies station!

nd2023

Move over CBS FM, there’s a new oldies station in town! 95.1 W236CH is flipping to oldies and will call themselves “95-1 236CH-FM” after their iconic call letters. Yes, this is quite possibly the only translator in the country proudly using its call letters in their branding.

“Playing 236 Classic Hits in a row with no commercials, this is 95.1 236CH-FM. Not New Jersey, not Connecticut, proud to be New York!”

Cousin Brucie will host mornings on 236CH FM and Big Tom Lawler will host afternoons. All your favorite classic hits from the 40s, 50s, and 60s will come out to play, 236 songs at a time.

I heard WAYV 95.1 is going to build their tower higher than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, with a power of 500,000 watts so it can reach NYC. NYC is a fast pace moving city so why not a faster paced CHR to cover all the way to the Bronx! ( I know the music on WAYV sounded sped up years ago, not sure if it still is)

It took you 22 of April Fools Day's 24 hours to come up with that?
If this were the United Kingdom, then Nick would have been the April Fool because, there, it is not acceptable to play April Fool pranks after 2:00 pm. I was so glad I didn't see this thread until now.

We need to send them a lot of support mail for this April Fool's joke, and maybe they'll actually do it? That sounds awesome!

So far one of the best April Fool's pranks of 2022 - Jimmys Fallon and Kimmell switched shows. Evidently even their bands and some support staff didn't even know until the shows began:

We watched the recording of Fallon's show today and yes, very interesting

That can't be easy. They're 3,000 miles apart!

Kimmel flew to NYC and Fallon flew to LA to take over each others' shows. They even performed each others' signature bits like "Mean Tweets" and "Thank You Notes". At the end of their monologues they did a video conference to discuss the switcharoo for the audiences of both shows. They'd evidently been talking about doing this for a few years, but due to the pandemic this is the first April Fools when they were actually able to pull it together.

Every year, on April 1, I tend to avoid watching talk shows, listening to live radio, and going to my YouTube Subscriptions feed in order to minimize the chances of me being April fooled. I did make an exception for The Official Chart, the UK's top 40 countdown radio show, because April Fool's Day had already ended there two hours before. (See post #4) I was active in this forum on that day, but I did not log in during the evening, and I did not see the original post until the morning of April 2. Therefore, I can tell you that no one fooled me on April 1, 2022.
