Not a very eventful book, but somehow, someway WORD managed to crawl its way back in to the top 5 6+. I'd imagine most of those listeners are 55+ but it's pretty surprising considering the format isn't doing that great nationwide and the subpar content of it.

WSPA-FM is on a solid trend back up, they've made some changes recently and it seems well deserved.

Rejoice 96.9 got a 1.1 share - maybe Salem should consider putting it on 94.5 or 103.3 considering how well it's doing on a translator?

Both CHR's are really struggling right now, The Block was down a full point as well.

I am glad WSPA is on the rise again and the changes they made seem to be working. Like I said last time I found it hilarious they finally got a significant bump when they stopped playing Christmas music. Hopefully the trend continues they sound fresh again for sure.

After laughing at WORD’s downward spiral this past year it is interesting to see them jump
back up. The on going issues of Ukraine, inflation, and it being an election year are probably what spiked the ratings up we’ll see if they can sustain it. It would be interesting to see which part of the day folks are listening to as I’ve been told the Charlie James show has been a total flop.

Oddly, Charlie James seems like a way better fit than Tara. I’m surprised Tara has lasted this long and apparently done well. She has a bit of an overbearing tone that doesn’t seem like it would fit well with the market. She plays to it with the topics, but her delivery can be straightforward and a bit harsh. Her delivery and personality are more of what I would expect in a larger market on a less opinionated station or a more news focused show.

I wonder how Vince Coakley does for them. He’s in a dead slot for news/talk, but WBT in Charlotte has been a ratings disaster for the past year where his show originates. I can’t see Dana Loesch being a slam dunk ratings success, shes the best of the available Limbaugh replacements but lacks name recognition in this area.

Curious what those changes were. I haven't listened in along time. I know they swapped out the midday and PM drive jocks. The midday is now always voice tracked. PM drive is potentially live with local personality Sheri Taylor, but I know she used to voice track sometimes when she was on the middays.

They biggest change I’ve noticed is they’ve upped the amount of 80s music and re-introduced some 70s titles to 5 or so per hour. Since older skewing formats seem to do better in the market it’s probably a good idea for them to lean as heavily on that as possible. I also feel that 103.3 and 95.9 ate in to them when they started playing mostly 80s and added stuff from the 90s and even early 00s. Earth seems to go down when Magic goes up and vice versa although that wasn’t the case in the latest numbers.

I like Earth. But sometimes the jocks just talk too much. I know. I know. It's "old school" radio. While I can appreciate the local content, sometimes the other stuff is just jabber. (I guess I'm getting used to listening to my streaming music without any chatter.)

Agreed. I’ve gotten so used to liner cards that it really is just too much talking, especially in the afternoon, and the whole off format noon hour. I get what they’re doing and admire the effort is nice but it sounds like they just freestyle on the air.

Also- suggestion, could they cut the legal ID down?!? It goes on and on. “WRTH Greer, WLTE Pendleton, WGTK-FM HD2 Greenville Spartanburg Anderson and online at earthfmwrth. Bam done and combine all of the cities.

They should pull a Z100 NY legal ID from the 80s. At about 10 min before the top, they buried the legal between 2 commercials. Fast, lower volume. Almost slurred. Then, at the top, they did a BIG ID of what they wanted listeners to remember. And, since this still a diary market, it would be very advantageous. "WRTH is Earth FM, Greenville, Spartanburg and all of the upstate."
