Kansas City LPFMs

Three LPFMs in Kansas City are either down completely or dead air now, if anybody cares. LOL

*KPPZ-LP 98.5, dead air for several weeks. They however have posted on their Facebook page acknowledging technical issues.
*KONN-LP 100.1, this one was down at least today, off-air. The website is still streaming and they've been active on Facebook, so maybe just a temporary technical issue. One Kansas City Radio | 100.1 FM | KONN

*KOJH-LP 104.7, off air for the past 2 days. The website has shown a maintenance page for a couple weeks at least by now saying they'd be back on April 1st, something must be holding them up or schedule changed. Maintanence Page | kojhfmkcmo

KPPZ-LP has been having issues for years now.
KOJH-LP should be back soon. Keep watching fcc.today for details.
Not sure about KONN-LP.

Small update:

KONN says their transmitter went down and they're waiting on parts to fix it. Could be a week.

KPPZ is now completely off-air.

Not sure about KOJH, they haven't posted anything with the FCC recently so FCC.today wouldn't show anything would it? They only went down Thursday or so.

KOJH is back on, what's on the FM and stream don't match right now.

I see the new application to modify and change to 100.5, but for some reason horizontal still shows 51 meters, with 100 watts, while vertical shows 15 meters with 100 watts.

Is the new antenna just vertical or is there an error with FCCData? I see on the application you're helping KOJH out, so nice on that.

Currently KOJH is on-air on 104.7 with traditional style jazz and no announcements/IDs that I've heard, but maybe they added some in the past day or two.

This is an issue with the FCC LMS system (one of many bugs in LMS related to LPFM stations). FCCdata's backend system REC eLMS reads directly from the application so it picks up what it sees. Now that the application has been granted, eLMS also reads the authorization document so now, you will notice that FCCdata now shows 15m for both horizontal and vertical.

Nice. It shows 0 for ERP but 0.1 for max ERP.

Do you know when the frequency change will occur?

Havenn't heard anything about KPPZ-LP which is still off the air completely, but KONN-LP is still working on getting back up.

When a construction permit is granted for an LPFM, it is granted with a minimum and maximum ERP (for HAATs of 30m or less, that is a minimum of 50w and a maximum of 100w per §73.811). When the facility is constructed and a license to cover is filed, the applicant will then at that time disclose the actual ERP of the station and then the database will be updated to show the actual ERP.

KPPZ-LP is now past 30 days of being either dead air or off air. It was silent most of the month of March with the transmitter on, now off completely.

Not sure about a return, if one is happening. Their Facebook post did seem hopeful. No response from them last time I emailed asking what was up.

All 3 of them are still completely off. Just checked, no STA notifications or silent messages other than what I've already posted for those 3.

Now there's another downed LPFM Praise 95 KCPZ. Their Facebook says the following:
"Praise 95 is on the move!!! The Crane is here moving our tower and antenna array system to our new location! Listen to the best Rap, Rhythm & Praise on Praise95fm.com!"

I don't see any modifications for KCPZ for the FCC. Maybe this is a temporary move and they don't have to notify.

KPPZ 98.5 filed a silent notification.
"The antenna for KPPZ was damaged in a storm approx. 10 days ago. Technicians are
working to repair the array. Request STA until repairs are complete. KPPZ has not had
any other issues within the last 30 days."

As for that last sentence... Well... based on what's been happening with KPPZ-LP these past 3 months...

The other 3 LPFMs mentioned, KCPZ-LP KONN-LP and KOJH-LP are still off the air. No notifications on those yet.

LPFMs in this area are dropping like flies as KNIU-LP 97.7 is now off the air.
But it may come back... Still nothing on the others, and KLHW-LP 90.5 I cannot receive the very weak signal from. So maybe only 1 of the LPFMs is on the air, KCGG-LP 100.7 which is currently preaching and crying in Spanish.

"Update: The tower build at our new location is coming along slowly but surely! We will be back on the air soon! Until then keep up with us on praise95fm.com!"

***

They have not filed to move yet.

KOJH-LP is on it's new channel at 100.5. The website desperately needs an update though. LOL KOJH 104.7 FM (Kansas City's Oldest Jazz House)

Also the new signal is so weak that it only worked for about 30 seconds when driving. KONN-LP works much, much better from a lower height, leading me to believe KOJH-LP is very low power right now at least.

"KCPZ is requesting a temporary silent operation due to damage done to the tower/antenna in a storm. We are in the process of moving because of the safety concerns. This is the 1 st time that we have had to go silent for any reason."

They also seem to have deleted their Facebook page, I assume because it had announcements stating something different than their STA request, which mentions about it going silent in June when actually it was May. Concrete Truth... LOL to me doesn't sound too close to Truth in their STA. I know I'm the only one giving updates about their status, but I did report in this thread during May when 95.3 went dark.
