It's the WWE that officially identifies as 'sports entertainment'.

Roger Goodell will deny this to the bitter end. However, the NFL is registered as "Entertainment". They can do whatever they want. All you need is the important players to go along with the script. I don't think fans would care anyway as long as "their" team wins...let's be honest, today's sports world is maybe becoming more fixed thanks to legalized sports betting and fantasy sports playing.
"Registered" may be the wrong word. The NFLs lawyers have argued in court that the league is "Entertainment". I don't believe the games are fixed or rigged. I merely point out that they can if they want to. The NFL generates massive amounts of money. It would be naive to think that some "pressure and control" is not being used to keep the cash cow alive..."Registered" with whom??? Are the other sports organizations registered as "Sports" with whatever shadowy cabal you seem to be referring to? And are there consequences for the NFL if the product it presents fails to entertain? Fans of the Jaguars and Lions might be looking to blow the whistle on the NFL if that will help!
Are the outcomes in the WWE unknown? It's a slippery slope when the NFL embraces gambling as it's doing now. Most people think the officiating in the NFL is extremely poor, yet the league doesn't seem to care. It's all part of the "Show"...No, they can't fix games. That's illegal. And entertainment as a legal phrase does not preclude something from being a sport where the outcome is unknown.
