"Star 104.5" WYXR "Superstar Sunday"

I found an aircheck of superstar Sunday from 1994 on youtube...
Wasn't that when they'd pick a year and play songs from that year that were huge?
I liked "Star 104.5" WYXR.

I actually liked Star 104.5 even though I was roughly 15-25 years old during the station's existence. Not exactly the demo they wanted to reach.
 
Superstar sunday was great, really surprised no other Philly station has done it since. Especially considering all the decade spanning variety based stations the area has / has had. If my memory is correct each yr they would do got an hr. So you could be listening to all 1988 songs, followed by an hr of just 1993 music.

I would love to hear something like that again and, as a radio geek, it would probably be something that would keep me tuned in. But in this day & age (and with PPM), gimmicks like this probably don't accomplish much.

Honestly, I'd love something like this again, too!
The thing of it is to me.. sure I can play all music from whatever year on any streaming service. But that's not a hosted presentation.
Although its probably only us geeks who would care about it being hosted or not.
Just like commercials. Most people would rather not hear them, but to me they are an artform, just like radio is.
