An absolutely amazing schedule. And it was all for free and no need to check what streaming options you had!
Most surprising: The Goodies (huge in the UK, virtually unknown here) on American TV. I noticed Morecambe and Wise on the Las Vegas listings, was there some push for British comedians at this time?

We had the Goodies in Atlanta. Ran from late 1977 to around mid 1978. I have an audio of an episode somewhere in the flotsam and jetsam of my stuff.

The reason I chose that date for both Northern and Southern California schedules, let along those of the SF Chronicle and LA Times, was that I started 4th grade that day in Los Osos (San Luis Obispo County), having just moved from the Bay Area and getting my first exposure to Los Angeles TV (Channels 5, 9, 11,13). I also chose it for the premieres of Hour Magazine and Your New Day, plus the revivals of To Tell the Truth and You Bet Your Life, as well as Captain Kangaroo's season premiere.

One interesting fact about the LA Times' schedules, is that until late 1983, they listed Palm Springs channels 36 KMIR (NBC) and 42 KPLM/KESQ (ABC) in their station roster, but not in the schedule with the other stations as indicated by this disclaimer "Not listed in log". Does anyone know why they did that?

I've just received from eBay the Los Angeles TV Guide from Sept. 6-12, 1980, and they list the Muppet Show (7:30 p.m. ch. 2) guest as Doug Henning instead of Jonathan Winters as listed in the LA Times. A few other SoCal newspapers (Torrance Daily Breeze, Escondido Times-Advocate) have Doug Henning listed as well.

How much of this was that the Los Angeles TV stations had translators in Palm Springs at one point. KPSP-TV Palm Springs CBS affiliate did not exist until 2002 around this time Palm Springs had KNXT/KCBS-TV Los Angeles as the default CBS affiliate in the market. Also KTLA, KHJ/KCAL9, KTTV, KCOP-TV and PBS affiliates KOCE, KCET having translators or cable carriage in Palm Springs TV market.

KECY in El Centro/Yuma had a translator in the Palm Springs area that brought CBS programming there, although KCBS was still available on cable in the region. When KECY swapped from CBS to Fox in 1994, so did the Palm Springs translator; it eventually became the standalone Fox affiliate for the Coachella Valley--KDFX-CD. For what it's worth...KESQ and KECY are sister stations, both owned by the News-Press & Gazette Company, who also controls all of the major network affiliations (except for the Entravision-owned Univision/UniMas duopoly) in the Yuma/El Centro DMA.

I believe it around that same time the Los Angeles Metro edition of TV Guide added KMIR and KESQ to its channel lineup, and before that they listed KEYT Santa Barbara and KCOY Santa Maria in the lineup. However, the Palm Springs stations in TV Guide were listed by their cable channels (at the time)--KMIR on 6, KESQ on 3.

KPSP was where Rich Fields was the meteorologist just before he was chosen as the new Price is Right announcer, succeeding the late Rod Roddy.
