Sunday Ticket heading to Apple TV?

And with that, DIRECTV just lost hundreds of thousands of bar/restaurant subscriptions...

Note the article states that DirecTV is interested in retaining “venue rights” which might be a separate deal from Apple marketing to individual subscribers.

They'll have to work something out with DirecTV even if Apple TV is the official provider. They have close to 100% of the sports bar market, while each local internet provider will have to support 20-50 (or more) TVs per bar, with multiple HDTV feeds to handle Apple TV.

The NFL and DirecTV will make it happen. They have no choice.

How do sports bars handle rain fade. Even a few minutes down would cause havoc.

We don't generally have that problem in AZ, but when it does happen, you wait until it stops. That was one reason (besides the high cost) I dumped DirecTV a couple years ago. It would go out with almost every monsoon storm, sometimes for an hour or two at a time.

I would have that issue with high top thunderstorms. It might not be raining but the cloud would still block the satellite for an hour.
