March '22 trends

As reported by AllAccess and Radio-Online. 12+ only. Only the top 5 stations in Buffalo & Rochester will be listed; assorted notes from both markets will follow. With that...

Buffalo

1. WYRK/106.5 9.1(up .6)
2. WBEN/930 8.7(up .5)
WBLK/93.7 8.7(down .1)
4. WGRF/96.9 7.1(up .3)
5. WHTT/104.1 5.9(up .1)

Rochester

1. WDKX/103.9 8.6(up .2)
2. WBEE/92.5 8.3(up .1)
3. WHAM/1180 7.4(up .2)
4. WCMF/96.5 5.3(down .5)
5. WAIO/95.1 4.6(up .2)

General notes:

-WECK finished in 8th with a 3.8, jumping half a point from the last trend.
-WBFO/88.7 and WEDG/103.3 were right behind with a 3.4('BFO up .1, 'EDG down .3)
-Looks like The Breeze is going right into some major headwinds; it's at 3.0....down well over a point from the December trend.
-No surprise: WBUF and The Wolf CONTINUE to be non-starters(pulling a 1.6 and a 1.3 respectively).
-A LOT of Rochester radio stations didn't have their numbers reported this trends; WXXI-AM & FM most notably.

So...let's talk about it!

Big A will be stopping by to tell us what a great advertising bargain The Wolf is(Like the dollar menu at a fast food joint). The format has a 1.3 share and the gulf between them and WYRK has widened. So much for stealing a share or 2. Flipping to Country was another ill conceived idea. About as dumb as renaming the company Audacy...

March 2022 Trends 12+ Mon-Sun, 6a-12mid

Each month is a stand alone, but this would theoretically constitute what once was known as "the winter book."

WYRK is moving back toward double-digits, and once again leading the market. It looks like new leadership had a positive effect. The big loser was Star. It looks like the Christmas Bump has receded. They're closer to their historic numbers.

The addition of Joe Chille is at least getting sampled on WECK. It looks like the new lineup may be a positive.

Otherwise, not a lot of movement in Buffalo. Pretty much everything else is within the statistical margin of error.
