102.5 Hartford's R&B Station

I started a new post for this station, because posting something under iHeart Launching R&B is inaccurate for this station's ownership.

Here is the TV spot for 102.5 Hartford's R & B Station -

I saw this billboard on Rt 6 in Bristol for this new station.

Kind of strange that the station doesn't have a name other than 102.5 Hartford's R&B station. Shouldn't it have a name such as Magic 102.5 or Star 102.5 or something like that? If not just brand the station as 102.5 WBOM like how 94.3 in New Haven goes buy 94.3 WYBC?.

It's thinking outside the "typical" radio box. 102.5 Hartford's R&B station tells you:

1) The freq
2) Who the station serves
3) The format

What would Magic or Star mean to someone? What do call letters mean to someone?

YBC also calls itself "The Rhythm of the City." It's the most prominent thing on their I-91 billboard and mentioned on air frequently.

WWYZ has been simply Country 92.5 since 1988. I'd say it's worked pretty well for them, even if the city isn't mentioned. They have used "Connecticut Country" at times, though. WCTY New London, the only other significant country station in the state, might object, but the two stations' coverage areas barely converge.
