Tried tuning in KNSJ 89.1 several times in past few months, but they always seem to be off the air. I know they've had many transmitter issues over the years. Their website doesn't mention any problems with the OTA. Anyone know what's going on?

KNSJ off the air... again

It's been more than a month since my original post, and KNSJ 89.1 is still off the air. Nothing about this on their Facebook page. Anybody know what's happening?
Why don't you call or E-mail and ask them?
but that wouldnt be as much fun as the speculating by the experts on here
KNSJ did file for silent operation. Hard to find in the FCC database as they filed in on paper.

This licensee should not be getting anymore stations and should have KNSJ revoked from their lies on now DKUMI-FM. They never constructed it but said they did.

The "paper" filing is because CDBS closed to new external applications, so everything had to be sent in through the FCC. Unfortunately no documentation was uploaded with the silence notification.

It is kind of funny to watch these blokes trying to be broadcast "professionals." They would probably have a WAYYYY bigger audience if they were just doing streaming exclusively. Most of the "elders" associated with the station are in their late 60's and 70's and are still stuck with the mindset that terrestrial broadcast is everything. When you try to tell them that their signal in and around San Diego is not reliable or non-existent, they going into these tirades reserved for their anti-Trump tirades (spoken as someone who doesn't have any preference for whatever millionaire with multiple houses have parked themselves in Washington DC).
It is like that station anyway has always been on "silent operation."
Does anyone have any updated information about KNSJ? They still seem to be "off the air." They say nothing about being off the air on their website.
Oh.... In the past they have solved their technical troubles within a couple of months. I didn't realize they could be off the air for way longer up to a year. I guess they are still streaming.... Thanks for your post....
Knowing how that place operates and some of the players, I don't see the station coming back ever....
Their web stream makes it sound like the transmitter is on the air. They mention KNSJ-FM, streaming and the tune in app.

That could just be the automation not having been programmed with replacement imaging omitting the broadcast ID, of course.

Activist San Diego the licensee of KNSJ-FM has a CP for 89.1 Dulzura. Their CP states:
Program tests for this noncommercial educational FM (NCE) construction permit will not commence with the facilities authorized herein until the licensee ceases operation of, and requests cancellation of station KNSJ (FM), Descanso, CA, Facility ID 172605. A license will not be granted for this station with the facilities authorized herein until KNSJ(FM), Descanso, CA, Facility ID 172605 has been cancelled. Under no circumstance will KNSJ(FM), Descanso, CA, Facility ID 172605 and Facility ID 768226 (this station) both be licensed. If the permittee does not agree with all of the conditions of this authorization, it must file a timely petition for reconsideration of the grant and return the construction permit to the Commission.
I saw an ad for a NCE FM CP in San Diego for sale. I wonder if this is this station?
